In a new city, with a new job and a new start as a high-end real estate agent, she’s finally back on her feet. The last thing she needs is a distraction. Sutton Spencer's ideas for her life were fairly simple: finish graduate school and fall in love. It would be a lot simpler if she could pinpoint exactly what she should do when she graduates in less than a year. Oh, and if she could figure out how to talk to a woman without feeling like a total mess, that would be great, too. Charlotte Thompson is very much the opposite.

Publisher's Summary
A twisty lesbian romance sequel to The Red Files about the family we can’t choose, and the one that chooses us.
What do a stolen food-delivery robot, a woman from the past, and a bizarre scheme to microchip military veterans have in common?
The infamous Caustic Queen, Washington DC bureau chief Catherine Ayers, would love to find out but she has a lot on her plate right now. She and her fiancée, reporter and Iowa girl Lauren King, are busy wedding planning in Lauren’s home town.
That means facing a lot of beefy mechanic brothers, a haughty cat, and a sharp-tongued Meemaw. Catherine’s sure she can play nice with everyone. Well, pretty sure. How hard can it be, anyway?

Got under my skin
I loved both the main characters in this book.Having met the unlikely pair in Red Files I was surprised at the deepening of there love for each other and the growing together as family. Winter draws the secondary characters into this story with the skill we have learned to expect. The narrator fleshed out each and every character with change in timber and tone of her voice. A truly exquisite read I would recommend to anyone even if they had not read any of Winters work before.

Hope there's a book 3
I enjoyed the mix of twists in these two stories. I also enjoyed this one because of the closing of the loop with Ayers' family, or at least more details and her confrontation with her parents. I would like to see the series continued.

Wonderful Read
Another fabulously witty, funny, and intriguing story by Lee Winter, I loved getting back into the lives of King and Ayers and taking on another adventure and wedding. Victoria Mei did a wonderful job bringing Catherine, Lauren, and all the crazy Kings and other characters alive.

First half slow, but gets better
The trying-too-hard cleverness on the dialogue and overacted haughtiness of narrator made it an effort to listen through the first half of the story but I'm glad I did cuz the story improved and I ultimately enjoyed it despite the narrator.

Sometimes the sequel is actually amazing too!
Lee Winter has a way to capture in each of her stories. She does extensive research and it shows in her writing. I loved the red files and I was extremely surprised that I enjoyed it's sequel just as much. This expands the backgrounds of both MCs and really allows the reader to understand and love the MCs even more, which I found is usually pretty difficult to do. It features both MCs families which adds another layer of depth to the MCs and it connects the events of the first book very well, making the reader just go "OH SO THAT'S WHY!" Victoria Mei did an amazing job in both books as well, she did so many different voices and different personalities that it just made me clap when she nailed a line. Please, do yourself a favor and buy this book as well as it's prequel.

Read 1 first...
If you read the first book first then you can get the dynamics of the characters and then you will understand their relationship and how it works. I liked the connection between the two books and the "hidden" character of the ex-lover.
