God damn. This hit me in the guts. The first real character development we've had for the protagonist and it was meaningful. The final chapter hit hard and feels so earnest. I will need a break before the next book to process. It's still lighthearted but the change and depth of this one was a great break from bimbo fluff that we know and love in the series
