INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dorit Kemsley comes a candid memoir in which she reveals the unscripted moments that shaped who she is today.

Dorit Kemsley has spent years cultivating a persona that exudes elegance, ambition, and confidence. But behind the designer labels and otherwise picture-perfect image lies a story of resilience, transformation, and self-discovery. Now, for the first time, she's telling this story in full.

Before the cameras started rolling, Dorit was raised in a Jewish home in Connecticut, shaped by her family's international roots. But her early interest in fashion soon took her around the world for school and work, which later brought her back to New York City to launch her own global resort-wear line. Along the way, a charming Brit—the man she once thought was the love of her life—swept her off her feet . . .

With the effortless charm of a best friend, Dorit reminisces on her early seasons as a Real Housewife, navigating new motherhood in the spotlight. She reveals the true stories behind #PantyGate and #PuppyGate and the ups and downs of her friendships with cast members across nearly a decade on the show. She delves into the fears and traumas she has long kept private, including the dissolution of her marriage to Paul "PK" Kemsley, the terrifying home invasion that shattered her sense of security, and the pressure of living under constant public scrutiny.

With candor, humor, and the kind of perspective earned only by a woman who has lived as a wife and mother onscreen for nine seasons and counting, Dorit recounts the lessons she's learned, the mistakes she's made, and the strength she's discovered in starting over.

You know what you’re getting.
She’s long winded but the story is interesting. If you love RHOBH then give it a listen.

Very Dorit

Halfway through Unburdened I found myself thinking, “In typical Dorito fashion, she still hasn’t made her point.” Unfortunately, that feeling never really went away.

Dorit narrates the audiobook herself and she’s genuinely engaging to listen to, so getting through it is never difficult. It’s actually a very easy listen because you don’t need to use much brain power.

The problem isn’t the narration, it’s that the book mistakes detail for revelation. Every event is lavishly described, every emotion amplified, and every story takes the scenic route. By the end I felt like I’d spent hours with Dorit without learning anything I didn’t already know.

The structure jumps around from her children, to PK, back to her grandparents, then into RHOBH storylines like Puppy Gate and the robbery, but it never really settles into a clear narrative. Every chapter eventually becomes about something else.

Fans hoping for genuine behind-the-scenes insight into RHOBH, her marriage or the biggest moments of her life may be disappointed. Aside from a brief mention of Erika and Kyle, there was very little here that wasn’t already public knowledge.

This isn’t a bad audiobook, it’s just a very Dorito performance. Impeccably presented, warmly narrated and full of unnecessary adjectives, but ultimately saying a great deal without revealing very much.

Very Dorito

Alot of word salad, lengthy descriptions of how she felt at certain times, shade towards PK and her cast mates, would have liked to actually hear about her life her business, Beverly Beach, her wedding dresses, came away knowing absolutely nothing, felt like this was a quickly published money grab.

Disappointing

Love hearing Dorit in her own words. There’s authenticity and honesty in her story that makes it so captivating to listen to. She’s so much more interesting than the RHOBH storyline people associate her with. Love hearing about Dorit’s family and vast European heritage. Listening to this audio book brings the real Dorit to the forefront, shadowing the unreal reality persona we see on TV. Couldn’t stop listening! Well done!

Beautiful authenticity to the story telling.
