Editorial reviews

This collection of nine short stories from acclaimed Australian children's author Paul Jennings is full of tales kids will love but adults would never believe: magical age-adjusting devices, dragons in drains, ghosts taking exams, and more. Jennings' protagonists are sensitive, likable, and always trying to do the right thing. Some of the themes might scare younger readers, but older children will love the strange situations, and performer Stig Wemyss does a fantastic job of creating unique voices for each character, from the ghoulish to the whimsical.

Critic Reviews

Perfectly narrated.

Any additional comments?
The major issue is that the audiobook has 4 fairly randomly placed chapter markers, probably from the original audiotape release. This makes trying to listen to a specific short story REALLY annoying!

Marred by lazy chapter markers

It’s a great book. I have borrowed the actual book from the library. In the newer version, the story “There’s no such thing” Is about an older brother trying to scare his little sister. In this version, its about a boy trying to save his grandpa. I found this strange.

I don’t like how there’s three random chapters. I can’t find a specific story.

Overall it’s a good book. Four out of five stars from me.

I liked the voices of course and I liked but didn’t like the ghost story bc it was a little scary

Well I loved how the reader did all the silly voices for different characters and that stood out most
