Stephanie is the best!
I found this series and almost didn't get it because I hate serieses! As a general rule characters in a series are great and likeable in the first book but just get boring and monotonous with subsequent books. But the Stephanie Plum mysteries take "mystery series" to a whole new level... Janet Evanovich is brilliant and masterfully brings more depth and ingregue to Stephanie's character with this next book and it just keeps getting better!! You will fall all the more in love with Stephanie, Joe, and Lula in this book! Don't miss all the rest of the books to date in this series! The reader for these early books is ok, but I like Lorilei King, who does the later books, better. However don't let it stop you from catching all these early books in the series. They are delightful... just like Stephanie herself!

I Love Janet Evanovich. I never read this type of ?lighthearted fiction? until I was stuck on a long flight and I ended up laughing lots along the way. A good time and I have fun visualizing the scenes. Stephanie Plum is a great character- her life and her family is an enjoyable mess.

I like Lori Petty as a reader
I listened to the first book unabridged read by Critt...it was good but I like Lori Party's voice. Her accent makes Two for The Dough sound more "real".... to me...(my sons' father's paternal grandfather was an Italian immigrant and the family settled in New Jersey).
I am curious to know if there is an unabridged version of this book though since it appears Ms Petty read an abridged version of the first book. hmmmmm....
wish I had purchased the longer version though....maybe I can purchase it and compare before purchasing other books in this series

Love the series!
This is the first time I have read this author and have fallen in love with the Stephanie Plum series. I downloaded all 13 books and listened to them all within a week. I couldn’t wait to hear what adventures (and mishaps!) that Stephanie, Joe, Ranger, Lula and the rest of the gang would get into. I’ve read some of the previous reviews. I agree with some and disagree with others. I disagree that it gets old and complacent that Stephanie finds herself in the same situations in every book. It appears to me that Stephanie’s character is just one of those people that trouble and mayhem seem to find. I do agree that narrator Lori Petty is the voice of Stephanie. Narrator Debi Mazar’s accent is a bit heavy for audio books and then after all this Lorilei King takes over as narrator for the rest of the series. While Ms. King’s character voices are awesome (she has such a range!) her Stephanie voice has no Jersey accent at all and sound just a little too “blue blood”. Otherwise Ms. King is a joy to listen to. You will fall in love with Ranger and Joe! Both are too hot to handle……no wonder Stephanie can’t choose between the two!
Don’t let the narrator changes deter you from listening to this funny charming, and at times mysterious series. You won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for something light hearted to listen to.

Hurray Janet Evanovich
The series is just great. Stephanie Plum is a wonderful character-believable and funny. The secondary characters blend into the story with the right amount humor and interaction. The descriptive writing allows the listener to really visualize the scene. I am disappointed in the narrator for this book-she is hum drum and too mousy.

Unabridged PLEASE!!!!!!!
As an abridged version this is very good - Lori Petty's voice and accent are completely Stephanie although she is a little limited in her range of voices. Her interpretation of Ranger's voice is also very good - different to that which I imagined but I think that my imagination got it wrong!!!
But I shall repeat my whinge of One for the Money - we need unabridged versions of these great books - I think that the books are less funny and less menacing in their abridged forms. Nonetheless I would recommend that everybody should get to know Stephanie Plum in whatever media is available to them!

Great story terrible narrator
I loved reading the Stephanie Plum books and was excited to get it on audio, however Lori Petty was terrible. She spoke far too quickly and had no expression and didn't have any differentiation between characters. I'm hoping that other books will have a different narrator so I can listen to some more from one of my favourite series

I ❤️ Stephanie Plum
These books are such an easy listen and keep you on your toes, great story! Just a real shame the narrator has been changed from CJ Critt (One for the Money). This new one has a very annoying voice, put on accent, sounds more Boston than NJ,NY. Although I’ve purchased Three to get Deadly via Audible I think I’ll be giving it a miss and buy the paperback instead, that’s how annoying that voice is!! All in all, if you can get past the annoyance the story if full of surprises with the return of some well loved characters.

Like many of the early Stephanie Plum novels this is let down by being an abridged version, I think they are much better as unabridged. Narrator does a good job though.
