About this listen

An enemies-to-lovers spicy romance set in the world of video gaming from the bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis—available only in audio!

Viola Bowen has the chance of a lifetime: to design a video game based on her all-time favorite book series. The only problem? Her co-lead is Jesse F-ing Andrews, a.k.a. her arch-nemesis. Jesse has made it abundantly clear over the years that he wants nothing to do with her–and Viola has no idea why.

When their bosses insist a wintery retreat is the perfect team-building exercise, Viola can’t think of anything worse. Being freezing cold in a remote mountain lodge knowing Jesse is right next door? No, thank you.

But as the snow piles on, Viola discovers there’s more to Jesse than she knew, and heat builds in more ways than one.

Ends really quickly. Needs like 10-20 more chapters. Seems to end with a lot more to still happen in the story

Great short story

I usually complain that this author’s novels are far too long and are not complex enough to sustain interest. I actually think this author is better at writing novellas than novels, and have repeat listened to several of her novellas. This had great characters and set up and so much potential, and then just….ended. I think she could have gotten a more satisfying novel from this set up (a happier, sexier version of Tomorrow Tomorrow & Tomorrow!), so it felt a bit wasted

Cut short

Ali, I’m going to need more please! There is still story to tell. I really enjoyed Viola & Jesse story, and then it ended.

Less than 4.5 hours!

Love this book, Hazelwood has done it again. Perfect sweet delicious treat for my ears. My only complaint is that it’s over!

ADORE

I love Ali Hazelwood’s works. Smart women, smart men, smart author, ruthlessly good sense of humour. But, to me, this short story felt like it fell short of the rest. Formulaic: neurotic, anxious woman falls for a swoon-worthy genius who has secretly pined for her for years. The first half of the book leads to sex. The second half of the box is sex that leads nowhere. Then it just ends. I really wanted to like this, despite other reviews.

I wish I liked this more…

Love Love Love Ali Hazelwoods books. So much so that I couldn't wait until the paperbook version of two can play came out. However for me personally, the audio of the male characters just makes me cringe especially in those spicy scenes which really ruined the experience for me. I am not big on audiobooks for this reason. I do not like the audiobook only release. It's a very uncaring way to release books and I believe is purely for financial gain to get more money out of people to buy both the audiobook and the paperback/hard copy. Overall feeling very disappointed despite the storyline being so good and it may impact my future reading of Alis books.

Storyline is great, audiobook not so much
