Story
We all have a soundtrack to our lives, songs that as soon as we hear them we're transported to a moment in time. As the youngest child, and only girl, in a family of creative types, Myf Warhurst grew up with the music in her. Whether she was watching Daryl Braithwaite on TV on a Sunday night or listening to the crackle of the needle across vinyl as Agnetha and Anni-Frid took her from rural Victoria to Eurovision, music has always shaped Myf's life. Later her love of music (and the realisation that a professional pianist gig wasn't part of the plan) would shape her career.

Story
It’s 2006, and terror scaremongering in the media has rattled the residents of sleepy, suburban Dunlop Crescent. When a Maori family moves into number 14, the local cranks assume they are Middle Eastern terrorists hell-bent on destroying the Australian way of life. Rumour has it that they plan to turn their house to face Mecca. This sets off an extraordinary chain of events that embroils the entire neighbourhood as well as cynical media figures, bumbling antiterrorist police and a gang of white supremacists with a radical plan to wake up the country and ‘preserve Australian values’.

Story
Eliza Grayling, born in Sydney when the colony itself was still an infant, has lived there all her 32 years. Too tall, too stern - too old, now - for marriage, she looks out for her reclusive father, Joshua, and wonders about his past. There is a shadow there: an old enmity. When Joshua Grayling is offered the chance for a reckoning with his nemesis, Eliza is horrified. It involves a sea voyage with an uncertain, probably violent, outcome. Insanity for an elderly blind man, let alone a drunkard.

Publisher's Summary
Selected as one of Audible’s best audiobooks of 2021.
Judith Lucy was just GREAT!
Sure, the last remaining member of her immediate family had died, she was menopausal, she suspected her career was in the shitter and it seemed like the world was going to hell in a handbasket—but she was about to move in with the love of her life! Everything would work out because SHE HAD A MAN.
Then, in the space of twenty-four hours, her relationship came apart and so did she. A broken heart became the catalyst for a complete existential melt down. She was nearly fifty, suddenly alone and unsure about every aspect of her life.
How had this happened? Should she blame one of her four parents? What part had the comedy world played and was her disastrous history with men about more than just bad taste?
In her most candid and insightful book yet, Judith figures out what went wrong and then turns her attention to finding out what her life might look like if it went right. She tries everything from dating a tree to getting a portrait of her vulva done to swimming with a whale shark. Thanks to a series of revelations and a slight drowning experience, Judith slowly starts to realise that her life is still full of possibilities and despite death, heartache and a dry vagina it turns out … she’s fine.

Heart’s been probed even deeper than Judith’s colon
Ever felt that crushing weight of ‘surely one day this will all change and I’ll be my best self and life will have some meaning’? Yep, me too - constantly. Lucy explores the (dare I say) ‘meaning of life’ in such a relatable and deeply honest way, blowing the top off all the excuses we tell ourselves but try not to interrogate too deeply. As a recovering self-protective cynic but deep romantic her hilarious reconstructions of her attempts at life and love will bring out the inner Elizabeth Day in the most unbelieving.
High-bloody-five Judith. Your willingness to be completely unclothed (in all the ways) has been a huge kick in the arse for this thirty something who’s been looking for worth in all the wrong places for too long.

Not convinced
I wasn’t sure I really wanted to listen to this book as my first audible apart from the barefoot investor 🥴. But to be honest I set myself the goal of giving it a go as I do tend to start things n not finish for whatever reasons. I throughly enjoyed this and look forward to listening to the next one with denise. Thanks Judith Lucy for allowing us into your world. A great journey so far!

Brilliant Inspiring and Touching
Another brilliant inspiring and touching book from Judith. She is one of the best comedians in the world. Not only for her wit and talent but also for her genuineness, bravery and insight that she shares in everything she does.
This book will make you laugh and cry and leave you feeling uplifted and appreciative that Judith does what she does.

Classic Judith and what we need right now
Hilarious of course, Judiths dry and laugh out loud take of some really crappy times in her life. Makes you feel resilient and inspired on her success and ability to be so open and laugh even in dark times. You think you can’t like her more but you can!

Really insightful and funny and poignant- I didn’t know what to expect but loved this. The right amount of wit and spot-on observation about growing up - and continuing to grow up - to make you laugh out loud at times and feel a bit sad too.
