Pete Simon's all-American life was everything he had ever wished for: a good home, a satisfying career, and a marriage still strong and loving after nearly twenty years. But in the days following the assassination of John F. Kennedy, everything was about to change. It begins with the appearance of a stranger at his door. The next day his wife Lily disappears, leaving a note behind begging Pete not to follow her.
Now, with a business card from an antiques dealer in Barcelona as his only lead, he sets out to find his missing wife. But each door Pete opens leads him deeper into a painful and shocking past.
A haunting parable of good and evil and all the shades of humanity in between, Turncoat is a rocket-paced roller-coaster ride with surprises at every turn.

“A change of pace [for Elkins]…a darker, more ominous story of World War II-vintage duplicity and deceit.”
(Seattle Times)“If it’s true that readers like nothing more than to be surprised, then they’re in store for many pleasures in this Elkins thriller…For lucky listeners, the story entails unexpected twists on every cassette.”
(AudioFile)“Elkins masterfully weaves both backstory about his characters’ lives and WWII history into a highly suspenseful plot…An outstanding novel.”
(Booklist)“An emotion-drenched, authentically detailed thriller…[Christopher Lane] expertly brings listeners to an apex of fearful tension and then carefully modulates his voice for a smooth descent. With gusto and clarity, Lane enunciates the accent-mixed dialogue and skillfully navigates listeners up and down a stream of risky adventures.”
(Booklist)“Lane has a remarkably deep voice that is almost mesmerizing in the way it takes hold and pulls the listener deep into this gripping thriller. Gripping and absorbing listening as we follow the naïve hero and his pursuit of truth.”
