About this listen
Tribulation is a twisted mystery about an end-of-days religious cult manipulating space and traveling across planes of existence on electricity and radio signals. Cult members willingly accept seven brutal years of torture, known as their “tribulation,” to atone for their earthly sins and come out on the other side saved (or thoroughly brainwashed?). The hero of this thriller, Stacy Carlson, must uncover the mystery of the Tribulation cult after her husband Greg is kidnapped by its leader, Brother Elijah (Josh Charles), through a bizarre AM radio broadcast. Greg’s disappearance leads Stacy into this world of zealots, skeptical law enforcement, and a former rock star turned conspiracy radio host, Reid Singer. Stacy and Reid team up to uncover the truth about the otherworldly religious mythology before them. Will Stacy find her husband and bring down the cult? All will be revealed by the end of Tribulation.
Tribulation comes alive with immersive sound design and stellar multi-cast performance.
Note: Tribulation contains adult language and auditory depictions of violence.

the ending gets a bit messy but it's due to the scope I guess. They've taken on quite the subject matter. Think Lucy with Scarlett Johansen in that the idea is great but it gets hard to wrangle a good ending with a scope like that. The only other nitpick is I could tell the writer took inspiration from Art Bell (obvious) but also Greg Bornstein (not so obvious) but the music gives it away. So my only nitpick is, if you're going to research this, how on earth could you not be positively affected by it ? that's insane. What i mean is, you can tell the distain the author has for these kind of people. Man that's crazy to me, the whole paranormal is a fascinating genre, if I did all that research and put it in my story id have the decency to not make it look like I hate that genre and the people in it. I dont have to give examples more than just listen to the first 2 chapters. The things they say about their 'audience' Reeds character i mean. oh and dont forget the cheap jab at Rush Limbaugh. not that I ever listened either , but... people just can't help themselves hey. please leave your infantile commentary on politics out of your stories !! its what we've all been complaining about for more than a decade now. we dont care who you voted for we dont want messaging . just tell a good story. and you have! so there's that, mostly good. 4.5 stars !
Very well done !

No stand out, "lovable" characters for me aside from the main protagonist and antagonist.
The story was basic, perhaps a bit shallow and lacking some character depth - but I did deliberately pick this book as it wasn't too long so I didn't expect much.
I'm looking forward to part 2.
A great listen

The performances are really good, and the sound effects aren’t bad overall either, but waaaay too much screaming and high pitched frequency noises (yes, I know, comes with the storyline, but still made me want to turn the bloody thing off quite a few times).
All in all an ok listen, if you can stand the prolonged over the top sound effects, with a rather quick and unsatisfactory ending though.
Good voice actors, ok story, way too much screaming!
