NOTHING happens in the first 7 hours

The first book was better and much better paced. This one is about 70-80% filler. A LOT of the book just rides what happened in the first. Nothing new happening and sometimes just talking about what happened in the first. The slow pacing was fine when new things happened but with the repeating filler, it REALLY emphasized the slow pace and even the slow narration.

There were 2 chapters in a row about poop. Yeah, there was more than one chapter about poop in a row, meaning it was discuss for more than two chapters. I get sewage is a thing, but why did we have to spend so much time going over every detail. It just screams unedited filler. Edit you book before you publish it.

it was pretty good if not super, super slow at times. The narrator is also pretty awful at female voices. Especially Lausanne. And speaking of Lausanne, Aeon is such a hypocritical tool sometimes. The way he treats her vs random orphans is day and night. Either be a magical tree with human memories or be a person in a magical tree, but flipping between when it’s convenient to be a jerk just makes you a jerk.

The most annoying thing to me about this book is Alexis, the horrible character that the tree kept because Milla whined. She was just that annoying person you didn’t understand the reason for being there. Entitled, selfish, oh and she tried to take over his body. Aeon still lets her read his mind. The contrast in how he treats someone who’s been so awful to him compared to the average citizen in his territory, one who is contributing without being a massively entitled jerk is annoying. He is just dismissive of them but treats Alexis with kiddie gloves in comparison. He is so vehement about getting back at Salah but just lets Alexis know everything. It’s such an annoyingly transparent set up.

Having this untrustworthy character just there takes from the listening experience and the investment you would have in Aeon. It just dragged me out of the story when she was in the scene. I didn’t want to side with someone who would just want that toxicity next to them.

Wtf was the author thinking

idk what the author was thinking but the complete lack of treetrees humanity ruined the story the constant dumb questions, amoral outlook, uneccesary problems created from a lack of proper social interaction, and a complete refusal to inform others he is from earth ruins 99% of the book. I listened to the first in the series because the tree still had some relateable characteristics in this book he doesnt.

BRUH

idek, like it was good but the ending leaves you super unsatisfied. Way less progression focused than book 1 which I guess makes sense. definitely a buy, but maybe wait for book 3 so you don't have to suffer the raw cliffhanger this one will leave you with.

Good book but…

I just wanted to let the author know that it looks like book 4 is scheduled to be released before book 3 on audible. I hope this gets switched so I don’t need to wait for both of them. Great book, btw!

Humorous and Emotional and lots of minion leveling

Thought provoking and lots of puns and dry witt. Seldom have I thought of trees and plants as being contributors to a global conflict and the way trees might think of humans. It explores a different perspective and makes me want to go garden for the adventure of it.

A very original and well written series.

one would think it difficult for a tree to have an exciting life but the author manages it well and the narrator matches the tone of the novel skillfully. Also there is a great deal of humorous content that really does not feel forced or cringy. I very much look forward to the remainder of this series.

Should have killed them.

liked this story until a couple of druids forced the tree into at familiar contract against its will, and the tree once it had the opportunity to get revenge, just let them keep their life's and the contract.
