The Big Man and his Little Warrior stole my heart
Nikki J Summers has done it again! She brought us all the feels is this heart-melting beautiful story about what happens when tragedy brings two broken and literally Tortured Souls together over a traumatic event.
If you love a new adult, enemies to lovers, dark stalker romance, then Nikki J Summers has you covered with Book 2 of the Rebels of Sandland series: Tortured Souls.
Whilst this can be ready as a standalone, it is interconnected and I recommend you read Book 1: Renegade Hearts first as it will not only provide a deeper understanding of the character arcs, but also because it does end in a cliff hanger.

Brandon and Harper stole my heart and considering how things were left in Renegade Hearts Book 1 in the Rebels of Sandland series, that is no small feat. Brandon was quite lost and angry in Book 1 when he knocks out his opponent Brodie Yates in a bare-knuckle boxing match which leads to Brodie’s tragic death.
Tortured Souls opens with the cemetery scene where a broken and bitter Harper is at her twin brother Brodie’s funeral. The same Brodie who Brandon knocked out and Harper hates and blames him for her brother’s death and consumed by her grief.
There is a reason why this book is called Tortured Souls – this beautiful train wreck of a couple, stole my heart with all the emotions – I cried, laughed and swooned. My heart hurt for both of them and If there were 2 people who were perfect for each other it is these two.
What starts off as a story of hate and revenge turns into a story of redemption and restoration.
There are many obstacles that Brandon and Harper need to overcome, and many secrets to uncover on their journey to heal their broken hearts and get their HEA, not least of all that fine line between love and hate with all the passion and angst.
Right off the bat this was a very easy listen for me not just because of the story but also due to the delicious pairing of Zara Hampton-Brown and Shane East: I devoured this audiobook.
I had been looking forward to this pairing and I am a massive fan of both of them and knew they wouldn’t disappoint!
Shane’s portrayal of Brandon Mathers is nothing short of flawless and continues to get better and better with each release.
#BadBoyShane is a favourite and there’s always a redeeming quality to his heroes and Shane captured Brandon’s emotions and his character growth in the story faultlessly as he shifts from the angry, bitter and broken Brandon & perfectly captures his emotions as he shifts to the swoony, selfless and vulnerable lover, that is seeking redemption from his past mistakes.
Equally Zara’s portrayal of the grieving, vengeful and broken Harper is impeccable and captures the emotions of Harper as she too shifts into the soft and vulnerable Harper who opens her heart to Brandon and can truly see his heart and the beautiful soul beneath his tough and rugged exterior.
I absolutely adore Zara she has such great range with a depth of talent and her performance in this series is outstanding.
Together Shane & Zara make the perfect Brandon AKA Big Man & Harper AKA Little Warrior. I love how they are are both so broken but their love ends up saving each other…total swoon fest.
I am a big fan or Nikki’s writing style which combined with my love of flawed #BritshHeroes and the beautiful #EnglishRose heroines that tame the #BadBoys make for some delicious books: Tortured Souls is no exception: 5 hundred stars!
I can’t wait to start the next book #3: Fractured Minds which is the story about Finn Knowles and Effy Spencer.
