Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Tom Clancy's Power and Empire by Marc Cameron, read by Scott Brick.

As the world shakes from seemingly disparate outbursts of terrorism, Jack Ryan prepares for a crucial negotiation with President Zhou's increasingly hostile China.

But when a routine traffic stop on an isolated road in rural Texas leads to the discovery of a stolen USB stick, it becomes clear there is a dark connection between the attacks.

With tensions rising, a US spy ship in the South China Sea gets caught up in a violent storm - a storm which threatens to push it into the path of the Chinese navy, with potentially disastrous consequences.

As the international summit approaches, and the mastermind behind the violence remains at large, Jack Ryan has no choice but to face Zhou. Little does he realise he's walking straight into the jaws of the dragon....

Ending Updated! Now is complete book

If you're like me and purchased this audiobook early, you'd have reached a fight scene with the book abruptly ending.

After following up with Amazon, the publisher has corrected it! Now this is the complete book.

It's a pretty decent story, and with the proper ending it's a lot more satisfying than the first listen through!

Did this book just finish mid battle?

Good book with a slightly different writing style then a true Tom Clancy novel. Slightly to much back story in some parts and not the normal plot twits. Then the book just stops mid battle. Please don’t tell me the author has gone down the path of creating two part books. That’s just not Clancy!

Meh

Seems that this instalment marks the decline of the young Jack Ryan series. It pales in comparison to earlier works in pacing, characterisation and quality of writing.

DID NOT FINISH

Audio book did not finish. Stopped half way through the finale with a "Audible hopes you enjoyed this". I have no idea how this finishes. Very upset. great writing and narration.....the book not finishing though killed it.

Book incomplete

The end of the book is missing. Do not buy this audiobook. Tom Clancy is otherwise amazing.

There is something not right

This book ends in the middle of a gun fight, with no conclusions. It feels a bit like the book has only been 3/4 recorded!

The last 5 chapters are missing...

It ended abruptly and I thought it was setting itself up for a sequel. However I was not sure about that so I checked a Kindle sample and the book has 62 chapters. This recording stopped at 56. I’m asking for a refund or replacement.

Incomplete

I have the hardback book and it has more than 57 chapters in it. This ends in a fight in Tokyo and not with the plot defeated

Tom Clancy would turn in his grave

This book should under no circumstances be confused with the Tom Clancy brand. It makes use of the Clancy stable of characters but the story line does not deserve to be associated with the Clancy

Too long and bloated

Hi, always been a fan of the Jack Ryan senior and junior books but this was too long and felt padded out. I lost track of some of the characters which was not helped by some of the names being similar.

Great first book from Marc

I have seen some negative reviews for this book but I loved it the story was great and Scott Brick was excellent as normal.

The only thing I found disappointing was the rushed finish I think if it carried on a bit longer it would be brilliant

A must read

It just seemed to peter out........

I really miss Tom Clancy his writing spanned the globe and you could almost imagine him in a room moving pieces around as he wrote like you see in the old WW II films.

Marc Cameron started out well with seemingly random events occurring. We even had two stories with a mini version of Without Remorse.

The conclusion seemed so occur so quickly it felt as if the Author was pushed to finish the book or got board.

Couldn’t work out if it was a Jack Ryan Senior or a Jack Ryan Junior novel. It was nice to have the comfort of familiar names but no ( or very little of ) Gavin Biery’s sarcasm and genius.

The other redeeming feature is the narrator Scott Brick who helps turn average writing into a good story
