Publisher's Summary

Ever wondered just how much of life you can understand through poetry?

Tim Key is never far from stage and screen - from Peep Show to Alpha Papa to Taskmaster. But now he's back doing what he does best - attempting to recite poetry whilst tormenting his friend and musician, the equally brilliant, and long suffering, Tom Basden.

From ruminating on the meaning of family via his narrative poem 'The Godfather', attempting to get to the bottom of death via his poem 'The Boy Who Faked His Own Death', and also organising an impromptu stag party, Tim Key uses poetry to help him understand every situation.

Critic Reviews

"...you never know when Key will suddenly toss you a fantastic joke or startlingly well-constructed line." (Radio Times)

"In any other sphere apart from comedy, we'd probably class this way of looking at the world as certifiable. Here it feels like genius." (The Telegraph

"The show...has a kind of artistry and strange beauty that makes it unlike any other hour of stand-up you are likely to see." (The Observer)

Tim Key Late Night Poetry NOT COMPLETE SERIES

I would have given this 5 stars, however there are 2 episodes missing from season 4, ‘Under the stars’ and ‘Cars,’ which means we are missing a whole hour almost of this comic genius and the impeccable Tom Basden. What is going on?

Brilliant but incomplete.

The exchanges between Tim and Tom are on par with the best of Steptoe and Only Fools. Shame Audible can't seem to sort the upload.

Absolutely brilliant. So funny.

Love it. Great concept and I’m not a big poetry fan in general. It’s the way it’s delivered and the layers of jokes through the conversations and with the hilarious stories.

Hope there’s more to come!

A gem of an audiobook

Had missed a few episodes when these aired on Radio 4 so was delighted to find the complete series. Hilarious. Memorable situations and perfomances. Lovely stuff.

An absolute joy

So much love for this. Rewards multiple listenings as the script is so natural, fast and richly packed with gems, you risk missing a joke as you are still laughing at the last one. Just wish there was more. Also paternoster lifts are truly terrifying

A MUST for all poetry lovers.

Pound for pound, the greatest and broadest selection of late night poetry on audible.

Key (poet) fires them off with relentless, wanton furiosity whilst receiving minimal agro from musical accompaniment Tom Basden (Lord).

Would recommend starting off with the earlier work 'Tim Key. With a string quartet. On a boat.' to get a flavour for the lofty artistry on show here.

Please fix errors

Audible, please can you correct the repeat of chapter 21 and add in the missing chapter where Tim and Lord are on the canal boat. This should be easy to fix, it was all recorded.

Not Complete!

First off Tim Key's late Night Poetry Programme is excellent comedy. This is not the complete series 1-4 as the episode cars from series four is repeated and the episode under The Stars is missing. Can this be fixed please?

Funniest show on the radio

I absolutely love everything about this, except that the last chapter is a repeat. Apart from that it's flawless, surreal and witty humour.

Hilarious and often poignant

I loved Tim Key's Late Night Poetry Programme on the radio but somehow missed Series 4 when it was broadcast. I was so happy to see the complete collection of episodes on audible to buy. The funny, delicate and often moving poems are interspersed into the hilarious interplay between Tim Key and Tom Basden who provides the musical backdrop to the poetry readings. This collection is almost perfect except that the last two chapters are repeated so an episode from series 4 is missing with another episode being included twice. The Christmas Special episode is also missing so the collection isn't quite complete - hopefully these episodes can be added onto the download - but this is my favourite offering from BBC Radio available on Audible and I think Tim Key is a genius.
