About this listen
Rowan and Citra take opposite stances on the morality of the Scythedom, putting them at odds, in the chilling sequel to the Printz Honor Book Scythe from New York Times best seller Neal Shusterman, author of the Unwind dystology.
The Thunderhead cannot interfere in the affairs of the Scythedom. All it can do is observe — it does not like what it sees.
A year has passed since Rowan had gone off grid. Since then, he has become an urban legend, a vigilante snuffing out corrupt scythes in a trial by fire. His story is told in whispers across the continent.
As Scythe Anastasia, Citra gleans with compassion and openly challenges the ideals of the "new order". But when her life is threatened and her methods questioned, it becomes clear that not everyone is open to the change.
Will the Thunderhead intervene?
Or will it simply watch as this perfect world begins to unravel?

The loser gets nothing except manipulation and becomes a useable commodity.
There were only two left out of the original 8, so I couldn’t see why both candidates couldn’t get a ring, but of course there was an ulterior motive.
The truth of the plot awaits the third book!

That ending though! No spoilers here but I can definitely say my mouth was literally wide open as I read and realised what was happening. Loved it!
Audiobook comment: I’m fairly neutral about the narrator. I don’t have overly positive things to say, or negative. He was decent, not an annoying voice, but not a standout narrator. He did vary his voice a little for different characters, but not a huge amount. Some characters were more memorable than others, but at times the change between a character speaking and the narrating wasn’t as clear as it could have been.
