Publisher's Summary

Rowan and Citra take opposite stances on the morality of the Scythedom, putting them at odds, in the chilling sequel to the Printz Honor Book Scythe from New York Times best seller Neal Shusterman, author of the Unwind dystology.

The Thunderhead cannot interfere in the affairs of the Scythedom. All it can do is observe — it does not like what it sees.

A year has passed since Rowan had gone off grid. Since then, he has become an urban legend, a vigilante snuffing out corrupt scythes in a trial by fire. His story is told in whispers across the continent.

As Scythe Anastasia, Citra gleans with compassion and openly challenges the ideals of the "new order". But when her life is threatened and her methods questioned, it becomes clear that not everyone is open to the change.

Will the Thunderhead intervene?

Or will it simply watch as this perfect world begins to unravel?

It didn't hook me

I did not finish this book. I absolutely loved the first book and could not stop reading it. But I just couldn't get into this one as much as I wanted to. The narration is excellent.

a good sequel to scythe

Thunderhead was a great book, alot of twists and turns and over all a fantastic book to listen to. granted it was a little slow in some places but i suspect that was needed for foreshadowing the 3rs book.

Not as good as the first one

The 1st book in the Scythe arc was SO GOOD that I was disappointed that the 2nd one wasn't as good. There was far too much focus on a new character Greyson and less on the main characters of the 1st book (Citra, Rowan, Faraday). I just hate that the villain *SPOILER ALERT* was revived with Tyger's body (RIP partyboy). I just can't take Goddard seriously with him sounding so much like the partyboy. The narrator did a fabulous job though. The ending left a lot to be desired but hopefully the third book will tie up the loose ends.

What a roller coaster!!!

Like any book, there are good and bad moments. Times when it’s impossible to put this book down, and times when you’re anticipating the next whirlwind. I have read hundreds or fantasy books and this one has such a great ending, my jaw dropped. Well done Mr. Shusterman.

Neal Shusterman has left me wanting more!

"To deny humanity the lesson of consequences would be a mistake. And I do not make mistakes." The Thunder Head from the book Arc of the Scythe 2 Thunder Head.

This book........WOWZERS! From the first page to the very end kept me hooked and left me wanting more. I want to say so much, but I don't want to give any spoilers. Neal Shusterman does a fabulous job once more in his second Arc of the Scythe novel. We join Scythe Anastasia and Scythe Curie once more along with the enigmatic Scythe Lucifer as we journey further down the rabbit hole of the Scythedom and we even get to understand the Thunder Head even more. In a world that humans have strived to make perfect humanities flaws spread and ahow their ungly heads spreading like a disease through a world that has become complacent and blind to consequences of act of actions and also inactions. How will Scythe's Anastasia and Lucifer handle these new challenges that they face as Junior Scythes?

This book takes us deeper into the Thunder Head and Sythedom. For a world that is supposed to be perfect human ignorance, arrogance, and corruption still fetser's in society. I enjoyed this book as we get to see more of the inner workings of the Scythedom and had a rollercoaster of emotions. From surprise and shock to laughter and sadness Shusterman really does a wonderful job keeping me hooked into the story. I even thought about calling off work just to make more time to get through this book.

As for Greg Tremblay what can be said that hasn't been said before. The man is brilliant as a Narrator and floors me with the numerous voices he produces in this book! He always speaks in a good tone and the right volume with such great clarity and emotion you feel the characters from the book are alive and being portrayed by different people and not just the one guy.

This world of Neal Shusterman's keeps on getting better and better. I am all ready looking out for his next book as the ending of Thunder Head has left me with my mouth hanging open. Highly recommend this series!

I love everything

This is one of the most enjoyable pieces of fiction I have ever encountered in my entire life. The plot keeps surprising me, going to places I would have never dreamed of. I’m am internally screaming about the last few chapters, and I’m already longing for the rest of the story!

Captivating

If I thought the first book was amazing, boy did this take me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Did not know this book could be much more incredible than the last. The voice was wonderful. Loved how he kept changing his voice for different characters. Made the experience much more exciting. I can hear Citra Teranova's voice in my head as well as Rowan Damisch so clearly even after finishing the story.

Deep...

Narration is amazing!!!

The story is very good and so are the characters. My most favorite character of this book is actually not a character but the AI Thunderhead who is so deep, philosophical, and probably the only AI who who actually care and understand humankind. Also,The twist and turns are unpredictable.
The writing of the author is exceptional because he gave such a depth to the character especially AI Thunderhead.
The only thing I did not like is the amount of action is less compared to the 1st book and wanted some more fights of Scythe Lucifer.
In the nutshell, the book is worth reading and very enjoyable. I am really looking forward to the finale.

Wow! A blockbuster book

I don’t know if there is such a thing as a blockbuster book if there is, then this is it.

The first book was incredible and you must read it first to understand the concept of the storyline. This second installment was just outstanding. It had an amazing, action-packed and riveting storyline that ended with a cliffhanger that had me gnashing my teeth for more.

I don’t think I have stated this before in any of my other reviews but I daresay that this is one of the best books I’ve read all year.

Bravo Mr. Shusterman - if all your books are this great- I’ll be purchasing them all tonight.

OMG! Not what I was expecting!

I read the first book, Scythe, as part of a book club at work. We were supposed to read/listen the first 50% of the book by the first meeting, and by that time, half of the participants have read the second book already! I thought they were crazy, but actually, they were so right!

Usually, the second book of a trilogy or a saga is weaker than the first one, and that is because we had so many expectations for that book that we get a bit disappointed that it was not as good as we thought it would be. However, Thunderhead is as good as the first one. If Hephaestus was the blacksmith of the gods, Shusterman is his equivalent in plot twits. I was gagging, shocked, gasping, and struck while listening to this book!

More please!

Thunderhead is the sequel to Scythe and spends a bit less time with the protagonists from book 1 in order to introduce new characters. The Thunderhead (an idealized version of what 'The Machine' in Person of Interest could have been that benevolently rules humanity) itself is even a character in this book.

The returning characters from the first book continue to grow and the new characters are just as interesting. Unfortunately, I accidentally spoiled something in this book for myself so one of the major events wasnt as shocking to me once it came around, but it gave me an appreciation for everything that was going on to build up to it.

As with Scythe, I highly recommend this book series. If you like YA, you'll enjoy this a lot. If you are new to YA, give this a shot. It's good scifi, regardless of the genre tag.
