Story
"I'll tell you something, something important. Love is a decision. Not a feeling. That's what you young people don't realise. That's why you're always off divorcing each other. No offence, dear." So decrees the formidable Connie Thrum of Scribbly Gum Island. She is the chief decision-maker of a rather unconventional family and her word is law. It's been over seventy years since Connie and her sister Rose visited their neighbours and found the kettle boiling and a baby waking for her feed, but no sign of her parents.

Story
Dan Ireland, a work-weary police crash investigator still hell-bent on punishing himself for his misspent youth, has ample justifications for not going home to Calingarry Crossing for the school reunion, but one very good reason why he should...Maggie Lindeman. Maggie is back in Calingarry Crossing trying to sell the family pub, while also dealing with a restless 17-year-old son, a father with dementia, a fame-obsessed musician husband back in the city and a dwindling bank account. The last thing she needs is a surprise houseguest for the summer.
Publisher's Summary
Three sisters, one birthday, one little problem...
The three Kettle sisters have had a mortifying mishap. Their raucous, champagne-soaked birthday dinner has come to an abrupt end following a violent argument and an emergency dash to the hospital.
So who started it this time? Was it angry, hurt Cat, still recovering from the 'night of the spaghetti'? Was it Lyn, so serenely successful, at least on the outside? Or was it quirky, dreamy Gemma, the sister who can't keep a secret except for the most important one of all?

Delicious
Thoroughly enjoyed this book - as I do most of Liane Moriarty's work. Her characters are very believable. I also enjoy that this book is set in Sydney suburbs that I am familiar with. Maybe not high literature but simply a delight. Caroline Lee's narration is the perfect fit. Hope to enjoy more from this team.

Love Liane Moriarty's books!
Any additional comments?
Have listened or read all Liane Moriarty's books and find them very addictive stories. The characters are all so real and the life is so contemporary and Australian that you can easily identify with the situations and the personalities involved. I often find myself laughing out loud at some parts and feeling pangs of sadness at others. Liane's novels are highly entertaining. Just can't wait for the next!

Nice story, relatable, serious and humourous.
Would you listen to Three Wishes again? Why?
No, im not one to read books twice.
What other book might you compare Three Wishes to, and why?
The husbands secret- obviously the same author. Similar sarcastic humour which I enjoy and the over the top characters.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
When the 'other women' walks in on Christmas lunch.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It was quite addictive, the characters were so well written I felt like I knew them personally.
Any additional comments?
Lovely read. I enjoy Liane Moriartry's writing a lot.

Beautifully written
My new favourite Australian author, funny, poignant and witty, sets a beautiful scene of an Australian families up and downs and how their relationships help and hinder them. Love how the author drops little observations of the family from strangers into the story. The little memories of their childhoods or early adulthoods makes this a rich and vibrant story, giving each of the characters depth and interest. The narrator is amazing and gives each of the characters a unique and satisfying personality in the telling. Laughed and cried, loved it all.

Family life
Extremely enlightening are the twists and turns of family challenges with multiple births. I love the humour encluded.
I love how Gemma the ditsy triplet turns out to be quite clever at other aspects while very clumsy at life skills. I love her Don't sweat the Small Stuff way of life.
Nanna Kettle reminds me of my own mother.
Such a great story to listen too.

Really enjoyed this Liane Moriarty book. I couldn’t help but becoming completely addicted to the characters and found it difficult to detach to another character when moving on to the next Moriarty book. So many relatable story lines :) Not a fast moving as some of her other books but still kept me guessing. Would definitely recommend giving it a go!

Another gem from Liane Moriarty
This is the 4th book I've listened to from this author and again I was not disappointed.
The characters established themselves very early on and are believable, likeable and funny and I found myself invested in finding out what happened to them.
The only parts I found slightly confusing were those told from an onlookers perspective. Perhaps it was because it was an audio book with no visual clue in the text to indicate the departure from the protagonists view but once I'd cottoned on to the format it added additional insight.
As always, Caroline Lee read wonderfully and I could listen to her narration all day. Well, perhaps apart from her attempt at an American accent, but she's wonderful so she's forgiven!
Highly recommended for an escapist read/listen.

Excellent book from this author as always
If you could sum up Three Wishes in three words, what would they be?
Interesting, funny, different
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed the book. I have read all of Liane Moriarty's books, They are not run of the mill 'chic-lit' they are far more than that. The storylines' of each of the triplets are each interesting in their own way. I liked Gemma. However, I could not warm to Lin or Kat I thought they were very cold, opinionated and arrogant women. The book jumps backward and forward in time and can sometimes get a bit confusing, but still keeps you on the edge, wanting to know the outcome of each scenario. A great book to listen to - the narrator is excellent too.
I'm looking forward to the next book by Liane Moriarty!! Hurry up please!!

Unexpectedly disappointing
This is the first book of Liane Moriarty that I haven't enjoyed. The story was flat, uninspiring and overly long. If this is your first book of hers, I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Go for the husbands Secret instead. It blows this piffling, lightweight chick-lit out of the water.
The problem wasn't just the storyline; even the characterisations were nowhere near the high standard of Moriarty's previous books. I just hope the next will be up to her usual standard again...

Awful
I have read all of Lianes books before but this one is terrible. After three hours I couldn't care less about the characters and the narrators voice just grates on me. Her voice is like fingers down a blackboard.
It doesn't help that the style of writing changes throughout each chapter from person to person and so it's very easy to lose track of who is saying what. Multiple voices are needed.
Waste of money and very disappointed

Disappointing.
What did you like best about Three Wishes? What did you like least?
I really battled to finish this book. The storyline is weak and lacks drama and suspense. I normally love Liane Moriarty's books so I was hugely disappointed I was not to be able to "get into" this one. I found the triplets too self-obsessed and void of character.
Would you ever listen to anything by Liane Moriarty again?
Yes, I've thoroughly enjoyed all her other books.

A great story
What made the experience of listening to Three Wishes the most enjoyable?
The unravelling and analysis of relationships during the story
What was one of the most memorable moments of Three Wishes?
The beginning
What does Caroline Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
She is an excellent narrator - very listenable
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Never underestimate the quiet one.......
Any additional comments?
The little bits of commentary on situations over time by people outside the story detracted from it a bit but otherwise very compelling listen and interesting twists as expected from this author
