Publisher's Summary

Based on the incredible true story of the Meller sisters, as told to Heather Morris. Including exclusive material from interviews with Livia Ravek and her family.

Their story will break your heart.

Their journey will fill you with hope.

You will never forget their names.

When they are little girls, Cibi, Magda and Livia make a promise to their father - that they will stay together, no matter what. Years later, at just 15, Livia is ordered to Auschwitz by the Nazis. Cibi, only 19 herself, remembers their promise and follows Livia, determined to protect her sister, or die with her. Together, they fight to survive through unimaginable cruelty and hardship.

Magda, only 17, stays with her mother and grandfather, hiding out in a neighbour's attic or in the forest when the Nazi militia come to round up friends, neighbours and family. She escapes for a time, but eventually she too is captured and transported to the death camp.

In Auschwitz-Birkenau the three sisters are reunited and remembering their father, they make a new promise, this time to each other: That they will survive.

Three Sisters is a beautiful story of hope in the hardest of times and of finding love after loss. Two of the sisters are alive in Israel today, surrounded by friends and family. They have chosen Heather Morris to tell their story in Three Sisters.

Heather Morris is the global best-selling author of The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Cilka's Journey, which have sold eight million copies worldwide. Three Sisters is her third novel, and the final piece in the phenomenon that is the Tattooist of Auschwitz series.

could not get into this book

I tried and wanted to get into this book, but could not. Im not sure if it was the way it was being read out, or the story itself. I do prefer fast paced stories that have either shock value, emotional pull and suspense. And while of course the actual topic is a terrible time in history, this book did not do it for me, even after listening to a couple of hours into it.

A memoir of love, strength and unbroken promise’s

In what should have been an unimaginable nightmare the peaceful, loving home of three sisters was destroyed.
The way heather writes is so beautiful, captivating and respectful especially when writing of the darkest hardest days the three sisters endured.

An inspiring story of resilience and hope

I found it difficult to put this down. I heard every word spoken by the narrator, but could not begin to understand these horrors and how, after such a prolonged period of constant suffering, the will to live endured. These stories need to be told and retold for generations to come. The authors mastery with words, means that this story of the three sisters will be immortalised.

well worth reading...

This was a book I couldn't wait to start listening to again. I felt the story was vividly told, like I could imagine being where the characters were and feeling their emotions. It highlights the incredible gift and miracle of unconditional family love. I valued hearing in the beginning of chapter 29- make every day count and see the blessings in it.

Incorrect Pronunciation of Names a Spoiler

The book was good and especially the end being able to follow the family tree.
The strength and bond of the sisters was amazing.
Unfortunately for me personally, every time I heard the names and places mispronounced it annoyed me.
I would still recommend the book.

Emotional

I’m not sure if enjoy is the appropriate word but I did love learning and going on the three sisters journey, it was intriguing as other people from the camps in this book were also intwined with the authors other books, as sad and emotional as it is I was totally inspired and intrigued by the horrific journey. And loved the happiness at the end , family is all we need ❤️
