Story
Investment banker Ash Taylor left her cut-throat world to set up a cool, cutting-edge tattoo studio. Her love life's been a lot bumpier, though. Ever since a heart-breaking affair with a straight colleague, she's vowed to steer clear of women unsure of their sexuality. Talent-agency executive Carmen Lyttleton is straight, career focused, and not prone to distraction from her occasional casual relationships. When her best friend gets a tattoo at Ash's studio, Carmen finds herself unexpectedly impressed by Ash and her business.
Publisher's Summary
Sutton Spencer's ideas for her life were fairly simple: finish graduate school and fall in love. It would be a lot simpler if she could pinpoint exactly what she should do when she graduates in less than a year. Oh, and if she could figure out how to talk to a woman without feeling like a total mess, that would be great, too.
Charlotte Thompson is very much the opposite. She's always had clear steps outlining her path to success with no time or inclination for romance. Her burgeoning career in politics means everything to her, and she's not willing to compromise it for something as insignificant as love. Fleeting, casual, and discreet worked perfectly fine.
When they meet through a dating app, it's immediately clear that they aren't suited for anything more than friendship. Right?
Contains mature themes.

Mixed feelings...
Great story, however the performance was almost unbearable. Maybe its a cultural thing, but I felt that the tone used for the characters made them seem a lot different then the story is trying to convey and almost un likable I really struggled to stay for the entire story, but am glad I did however I do wish I had of just read the book.

Thank you audiobook gods
This book has had a special place in my heart since the first time I read it months ago. From the first read I fell in love with gorgeous, driven, trailblazing Charlotte, who swears she’s impervious to love; and sweet, adorably awkward Sutton, who knocks down all Charlotte’s walls just by existing in the world as a “beautiful, bright ray of redheaded sunshine,” as Regan calls her. I’ve probably read their story 3 or 4 times by now. It’s hot, sweet, poignant and at times surprisingly tear-jerking. All-around entertaining. So when I saw that an audio version had been released with LORI PRINCE, one of my all-time favorite narrators voicing it, I basically swooned with excitement! They could NOT have found a better narrator to bring out all the tones of this book, from the sexy to the playful to the emotional and inspiring. This was a joy to listen to. Thank you, audio gods, for pairing wonderful writers with wonderful narrators. One little thing of note to my fellow Americans: politics and politicians feature largely in this story, and it’s a bit of unfortunate timing for this release considering the current dumpster fire of a political climate in our country right now. I am referring to the juxtaposition of the world Cass builds here to that of our distinctly charged reality. From the Obama erasure (in favor of Charlotte’s fictional grandmother, the “first [white] female president of the US”) to the Trump erasure (not nearly as bad a thing IMO, but still distractingly noticeable), to the fact that the biggest issue being faced in the “Those Who Wait” political/social landscape is the continued homophobia among politicians and their constituents (rather than things like BLM movements and - oh I don’t know - A PANDEMIC) this book feels like a very out-of-touch representation of the time and place it’s meant to portray in the US. It’s enough to pull you out of the story just a little at times, or at least that is true for me. So maybe just be aware of that (if you’re like me and potentially distracted by that kind of thing) and go with it. You will not regret it. :) 10/10 recommend! Lori Prince is a gift!

Some of my favorites, love, politics and good friends..
I’ve actually read this book a few times now and the follow up book,I enjoyed Sutton and Charlotte love story. Lori Prince doing the audio is a perfect match. Honestly when I saw the length of the audio, I thought Forever and A Day was going to be included. Even though that’s not the case, just makes me look forward to another audio coming in the near future.

Loved this lesbian romance
Not in the least realistic, naive and very wasp but well written and very enjoyable lesbian romance. Made me laugh and cry and refreshingly does not use sex simply as padding, which is a a nice change. The narrator is good at limiting her use of a sexy voice for sexy moments - also a refreshing change - and defining characters through the use of different sounding voices, which is always helpful in an audio production, even though some of the voices are a little weird.

is actually worth the wait!
I agree with the other review that the writer does tend to over explain some aspects of the story. You find yourself saying 'yeah, I know, I get it' saying that... I really enjoyed the plot. Longer than most lesfics I listen to, I devoured it in a few short days. Lori Prince is a firm favourite for me as a narrator and as always, she delivers. Her voice for Charlotte is mesmerising. The romantic scenes were hot. Both characters are adorable and Charlotte is the ultimate strong, intelligence female! Sometimes too drawn out, but overall, worth the wait.
