Publisher's Summary

A memoir by the beloved comedic actress known for her roles on Freaks and Geeks, Dawson's Creek and Cougartown who has become 'the breakout star on Instagram stories...imagine I Love Lucy mixed with a modern lifestyle guru' (The New Yorker).

Busy Philipps' autobiographical audiobook offers the same unfiltered and candid storytelling that her Instagram followers have come to know and love, from growing up in Scottsdale, Arizona, and her painful and painfully funny teen years to her life as a working actress, mother and famous best friend.

Busy is the rare entertainer whose impressive arsenal of talents as an actress is equally matched by her storytelling ability, sense of humor and sharp observations about life, love and motherhood. Her conversational writing reminds us what we love about her on screens large and small. From film to television to Instagram, Busy delightfully showcases her wry humor and her willingness to bare it all.

I've been waiting my whole life to write this book. I'm just so grateful someone asked. Otherwise, what was the point of any of it?

Great summer read

Busy Phillips is a great actor and a great conversationalist. I found the stories from her younger and teenage years more interesting than her later, more famous years. At times her narration is a little over the top (especially when she mimics her mother) but overall this is an engaging book with some sharp insights into 21st century Hollywood.

Looooovvved!

I loved this book! I’ve always known if Busy Philipps as a actor but given that I was born in 1990, I only remember seeing her in White chicks and cougar town. I didn’t know that much about her. I had no idea this life that she has lived. I found this fascinating, truly real and raw story and I couldn’t stop listening to it!

I love the fact that Busy narrated her own book. Adding testament to the wonderful life she has lived. I especially loved the impression of her mother.

I am now I big fan and I am definitely going to watch Freak and Geeks

Must listen

Busy reading the book is perfection. My heart would break along with hers when her voice wavered or you could hear her voice breaking. It was a moving book about coming of age and life and our expectations and the reality of all of that, surrounded by other people’s trauma.

loved it!

First audio book and I think I chose wisely with this one. Was so great to hear Busy narrate it also, it feels like a real sit down chat with the woman that we've all gotten so unaccustomed to hearing and following her story.

Just as you would expect Busy Phillips to be!

A wonderfully honest and heartwarmingly frank autobiography. Listened on my very tedious commute to work, and found myself gasping and laughing out loud in equal measure.

Just fab...good luck with the talk show Busy!

No holes Barred

Busy tells us her incredibly difficult life in a way that means you need to keep listening. I believe this is because you become fascinated in finding out how such a publicly bubbly and positive woman could have come some horrific early experiences.
It is very frank about the difficulties she has faced trying to break into a swamped market of actors & her determination to prove teachers and others wrong about what she could be.
Raw and brilliant!

A very good book

Busy Philips is an amazing actress and a very "real" person Who gets deep and emotional and personal and it's not always pretty but it's her story and she tells it brilliantly.

This actually hurt a lot

Her voice. The self indulgent drivel and her pattern for cheating on and with horrible men then dismissing her behaviour as youthful stupidity. This was one of the worst things I’ve ever read.

If you love Busy, you'll love this

Busy is so honest and it's amazing to think she feels the same way as an everyday human! She's had some battles, obviously she's still a star so some bits are unrelatable, and she's quite ott with the acting sometimes, but that's just her and she's self aware about that! The voices she does are so funny, i agree with Jon Ronson who recommended it on Twitter.
