Publisher's Summary

A memoir by the beloved comedic actress known for her roles on Freaks and Geeks, Dawson's Creek and Cougartown who has become 'the breakout star on Instagram stories...imagine I Love Lucy mixed with a modern lifestyle guru' (The New Yorker).

Busy Philipps' autobiographical audiobook offers the same unfiltered and candid storytelling that her Instagram followers have come to know and love, from growing up in Scottsdale, Arizona, and her painful and painfully funny teen years to her life as a working actress, mother and famous best friend.

Busy is the rare entertainer whose impressive arsenal of talents as an actress is equally matched by her storytelling ability, sense of humor and sharp observations about life, love and motherhood. Her conversational writing reminds us what we love about her on screens large and small. From film to television to Instagram, Busy delightfully showcases her wry humor and her willingness to bare it all.

I've been waiting my whole life to write this book. I'm just so grateful someone asked. Otherwise, what was the point of any of it?

The best friend you have been looking for

This is light, cute, honest and a little heavy at times, but this book will keep your attention. I didn’t know all that much about Busy but this makes me want to be her best friend. Busy is fun, caring and so loving to her friends and family you just want to be apart of her life.

Great

As a child of the 80s, I have grown up with seeing Busy in many shows. Starting from Freaks and Geeks - yes, Busy, I actually did watch it as it aired and even taped it on my vcr - and Dawson’s Creek, it was awesome to hear the story behind the actress we have seen on screen. I liked that it referenced a lot of pop culture (music, tv, events) that happened over the years, many relevant to my generation that I can remember as well, but through Busys eyes. Very cool to get a behind the scenes perspective of Hollywood also! Busy did a great job narrating and this has been one of my favourite audiobooks I have listened to.

Raw, engaging, captivating

This was so captivating. Raw, real, engaging, shocking. I knew I loved Busy but this vulnerability really blew my mind. And the story was told so beautifully. Also, some SHOCKING Hollywood secrets, mind blown...

Loved it!

I loved this book so much - this was my first experience in using audible and listening to an audio book and I honestly could not have picked a better title.

Busy brings so much life to this book, and you can really hear and feel the emotion in her voice. It must have been really difficult to write and then relive the moments when recording the audio.

On many occasions throughout this book I found myself crying, laughing and gasping. Her story is really moving, completely relatable and very interesting.

Was skeptical but pleasantly surprised

I think Busy is amazing but waited to read her memoir due to seeing some bad reviews and underestimating her writing talent. It turns out that I’m not the first to have made that mistake and I’m so happy I was so wrong! Her memoir was addictive, beautifully written, funny, heartbreaking and always intriguing. She really knows how to tell a good anecdote and her honestly and strong, bad-ass spirit really comes through in full force. I’m absolutely in awe of her fighting nature and found myself crying along with her as she shared really brutally intimate moments of her life. I’m sure she won’t read this but I hope this review gets others to at least read it too. Thank you for sharing bits of your life with us, it helped me from within a deep depression and that is fucking priceless. x

Must listen

Busy reading the book is perfection. My heart would break along with hers when her voice wavered or you could hear her voice breaking. It was a moving book about coming of age and life and our expectations and the reality of all of that, surrounded by other people’s trauma.

loved it!

First audio book and I think I chose wisely with this one. Was so great to hear Busy narrate it also, it feels like a real sit down chat with the woman that we've all gotten so unaccustomed to hearing and following her story.

Just as you would expect Busy Phillips to be!

A wonderfully honest and heartwarmingly frank autobiography. Listened on my very tedious commute to work, and found myself gasping and laughing out loud in equal measure.

Just fab...good luck with the talk show Busy!

Really enjoyed Busy’s narration of her book!

I am truly happy I listened to this as opposed to reading it. It really gave the book an added dimension.
I really liked how an Hollywood actresss life stories are actually quite relatable.
Busy’s drive and how much she has grown as a human being comes across.
The only thing I found probably harder to follow on an audio vs written book is all the names of people mentioned.

I laughed, I cried and everything in-between!

This book was brilliant. Busy tells it with such honesty and humour. The similarities in our lives balanced the differences (being a teacher in England and not an actress being one of them). What an amazing human! Whenever I'm low, I will recall the image of her dancing with her left boob out! Hysterical! Busy is inspirational for so many different reasons. Thank you for this book. xxx

Guys.....

I loved this honest and intimate account of Busy's beautiful life.
I've been a fan of Busy's since I was a loud mouth teen watching her portray a loud mouth teen, on Dawson's Creek, (despite being jealous of her characters relationship with Pacey Witter!)
This is a great listen, with Busy narrating, it's as though she is telling you her story friend to friend.
If you're a fan of Busy, or a 80s/90s kid, I think you'll relate to many parts of her story.

Wow! Only hurt a little???....

Wow this is a really powerful book. Busy Phillips is raw in an inspirational and endearing way - if you can cope with repeat use of the f-word!

She is a fighter and deserves all she wants. When it feels like the world is against one read this and see what stand is up and live your life means..... and it’s Hollywood glamour paid for!

Thank BP for being incredibly brave and open....

And oh really miss Busy Tonight!

the voice of a generation

I thought I couldn't love Busy Philipps any more, and then I heard her story. Equal parts hilarious Hollywood anecdotes and relatable personal tragedy, Philipps manages to break down any preconceptions you may have about her in a warm, witty and knowing voice. She's the sort of voice that we need in the world, and I challenge you not to want to be her best friend after hearing this book.
