After 13 years of entrepreneurship, I have heard every piece of business advice you can imagine. I've experimented more than most and implemented most of what I've heard. A few years ago, after much failure, I began to realize the problem with most tried and true business advice. More often than not, it's given by people who are either grossly under-qualified or people who stand to benefit financially from the advice. If one has the confidence and resourcefulness Dan Norris has built, based on his personality and his learning from his mistakes in business, this book will probably be helpful. If you are someone who listens to anyone who steps up to the microphone and regularly sign up to endless 'shiny objects, the missing piece of golden advice, or 'best funnel ever' or 'I am a business coach, let me help you' ads on social media posted by people, who either have not run a conventional business themselves OR who are more about making money out of other people's misery or lack of confidence, I agree with Dan and his book will probably align well with your beliefs about business ownership.
Having run a marketing agency for more than 15 years and having helped hundreds of small business clients from all walks of life, I have not only been disappointed by the lack of confidence and understanding on HOW to market yourself and your business to get potential customer's attention in the first place; most small business owners are so busy working IN their business, they have little or no time to work ON their business,.
Unless one has the time to learn about Social Media , how to not accidentally burn through your Google Ads budget with low ROI and how to make a website that gives you the best possible opportunity to attract and convert potential customers/clients/patients, you WILL need someone to help you along with your marketing, OR someone to coach you on what to do next, no matter what Dan says.
But maybe, I'm just not his 'target market'. Good luck to him, but much of what he suggests, does not apply to most of my clients.
