Publisher's Summary
Napoleon Hill, America's most beloved motivational author, devoted 25 years to finding out how the wealthy became that way. After interviewing over 500 of the most affluent men and women of his time, he uncovered the secret to great wealth based on the notion that if we can learn to think like the rich, we can start to behave like them. By understanding and applying the thirteen simple steps that constitute Hill's formula, you can achieve your goals, change your life and join the ranks of the rich and successful. In this updated edition, Dr. Arthur R. Pell provides examples of men and women who, in recent times, exemplify the principles that Hill promulgated. With the success stories of top achievers such as Bill Gates and Steven Spielberg, he proves that Hill's philosophies are as valid today as they were then. If you're looking to become the next Bill Gates, this is the book for you.

Great content, poor narration
Would you consider the audio edition of Think and Grow Rich to be better than the print version?
This audio book is very difficult to listen to. The narrator reads the sentences as if it is the first time, and therefore doesnt put correct emphasis on words or phrases. There are numerous technical errors throughout such as obvious changes in pacing, cuts/edits, and the constant whistle on words with "s" in them. I found myself tuning out and having to force re-focusing on the words to get the content.
What didn’t you like about Varoon P Anand’s performance?
Pacing, poor editing, odd emphasis and phrasing.

Do not buy the version with Varoon P Anand
Would you try another book from Napoleon Hill and/or Varoon P Anand?
Yes, but only from Napoleon Hill
What do you think your next listen will be?
The REAL book.
What didn’t you like about Varoon P Anand’s performance?
This version is full of New Age interjections that are not in the original text. The reader will put you to sleep.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Think and Grow Rich?
Everything, and I mean everything, that was added outside of Dr. Hill's original text.
Any additional comments?
Do not buy this version unless you want a New Age perspective applied to this classic book. So disappointed, if only I could get a refund.

The cliche of self-help books
This book is a classic and espouses great advice... that's been rehashed in more accessible ways since the 20's. Between the racist anachronisms, ableism, and frequent repetition, it became a chore to listen to. In summary: focus on success, plan for success, and surround yourself with ideas and people that will push you forward to success. I'm sure these attitude adjustments were super useful before the age of the finely honed self-help book, but because this book hammers the fundamental attitude shift with little practical advice, it's just not as useful in an era where I can get the high-level concepts in any of hundreds of podcasts/video series/books written in a modern tone.

Hard Work!
While I took a few things from the audiobook, it was a struggle to keep listening all the way to the end. I found the narration quite monotone and dull. The book is more philosophical than I anticipated (which may be my own fault for not realising) and I found it a bit too preachy and abstract. If you’re looking for a practical book then this is not the one for you. This book makes a regular appearance on lists of the best personal finance books and I overall I was disappointed in it. In the spirit of the advice given in the book though....maybe you shouldn’t let my slightly negative experience influence you...make up your own mind!
