Boring

I had to return this book, I found the story very boring and just couldn’t get into it. It is unusual for me not to get to the end of a book!

Failed to Ignite

I was a little dissapointed with the overall experience. The story was very average and trundled along but never really got going. The narration was ok but because of the accent I couldn't help thinking I was listening to an episode of Thomas the tank engine.

Excellent

Mark Billingham writes and tells an intriguing story. His narration is perfect. I liked the fact that it is not necessary for him to create different voices in order to bring the characters to life. The book held my interest throughout. I was sorry it ended and can’t wait for the next book in the Thorne series.

Interesting storyline

I found the accent very irritating on audible.... like a very bad Gary Barlow ! Storyline keeps you engaged through to the end.

Very disappointing

I used to love Mark Billingham books but this shall be the last one I read.Tom Thorne has turned into a childish, unprofessional, depressive. His manner is course and negative and doesn’t allow the listener to feel any connection to him.The author is also a poor narrator who doesn’t put the right emotions into the story and comes across as moaning and boring. The only reason I stuck it out to the end was to find out how the protagonist was caught.

A Tour de Force

The best yet. Tingling, brilliant. I'm still in slight shock at the sheer evil of the protagonist.

Predictably splendid.

Mr Billingham delivers wit and depth and the central characters are starting to feel like family (the ones you enjoy spending time with).
I was a little unconvinced of the Fred and Rose arc and character motivation but this did not detract from my enjoyment of both the story and the author's audio delivery.
