Publisher's Summary

I didn’t know bridesmaid was code for babysitter for the bride’s brother, but if that’s what my best friend needs of me for her dream wedding to go off without a hitch, that’s what I’ll do.

Even if Theo Monroe has been a pain in my rear since third grade.

Even if he should be responsible enough to not wreak havoc at his sister’s destination wedding.

Even if it means we have to share a hotel room in Hawaii, which might be the final duty that breaks me.

Not only does Theo know exactly how to push my buttons, but he never wears clothes, he’s hiding a litter of kittens in his room, and he keeps showing up with fresh-baked cookies that seemingly come from nowhere.

Also?

I have no idea what’s up with the tension between him and the groom.

Or why he’s so proud of the world’s strangest wedding gift.

Or why I suddenly want to know what makes him tick. The story behind his tattoos. How he can afford to rent a convertible in Hawaii. And if maybe all of that utter frustration and irritation I’ve felt for him for years is suppressed attraction that a good girl like me isn’t supposed to feel for the biggest bad boy of Snaggletooth Creek.

But I do know one thing.

When I find out his biggest secret and the answer to all of my questions, it will change everything.

The Worst Wedding Date is a frolicking good time of a destination-wedding enemies-to-lovers rom-com, complete with a good-girl bridesmaid, her best friend’s troublemaking but secretly bighearted brother, and more than one hitch on the way to happily ever after. It stands alone, has no cheating, and comes complete with ooey gooey goodness.

Hard one to rate

The narrators were both good, and I'd be happy to listen to both again.
The story was hard to rate though. It had an interesting story arc and character dynamics, which kept me involved, and the character of Theo was complex and endearing. The connection between the main characters was good, as you'd wish. The sex was there but didn't dominate the plot.
HOWEVER, the main female was often unbearably whiney and there was far too much internal dialogue that was repetitive The bride was even more whiney and self centred with what she was asking from her bridesmaids. I actually sped the audio up at times as the whining seemed so drawn out.
There were also some really silly situations as if the author was going for slapstick (a form of humour I don't relate to).
Hence the rating dilemma I ended up both caring about the characters and also annoyed at times and wishing it was shorter. I am going to try the follow up story though.

Pippa did it again. Cue me snort laughing into my pillow at 4am because I could t stop listening but don’t want to wake the BF beside me.

Funny as with great new characters human and feline. Really excellent narration too. Can’t wait for the next one!

Classic Pippa Grant

Pippa Grant never disappoints. Her wit and imagination and characterisation are wonderful. And the narration was spot on. Kit was able to seamlessly give different voices to the female characters. And Ryan was just yummy!

Ruining me for other books

Loved this book. The characters, the story, the humour. I’m finding it harder to read other authors when they just don’t measure up to these standards I’ve become accustomed to. The narration was great, the female lead in particular has a fantastic voice.

Great Ride

Love , hope, loss and change and a great load of who dunit. For a person that grew up on Heinlein and later Conroe, Currie and Skippy (Alanson) . Depth of the characters is the essence of Ms P Grant. Starting my next ride now, Sabrinas story. And for nay sayers of Love Stories Ms Grant awakened and old SyFy to the other side.

All talk and no action.

DNF. I'll say it again, I'll say it a million times. SHOW don't TELL.
This book could have been a bit of witty, light-hearted, trope-filled fun. Instead, it was page after page of internal monologues and whining.
Awkward situations were dragged on and on and had me begging for the punchline, just to be free. Not one of them was funny.
Waste of a credit.

Really

Look I love a good Rom Com but I am really tired of the female lead being portrayed as hysterical and constantly and I do mean constantly self doubting. When do we get to the part where they’re strong and funny?
