About this listen

Our dream home. A fresh start. But the house comes with secrets — and so do the neighbours.

The moment we moved in, I knew something was wrong. A cracked stove. Scribbles on the wall. The lights flicking off every evening — always at the same time. Our daughter crying in the night, pointing at the corner of her room. "She has no face."

Then I met Josie, the woman at No. 3.

Pale. Polite. Smiling. Obsessed. She knows things she shouldn't. Offers to babysit my daughter again and again. And when I told her no — she didn't like that.

Now the gifts are arriving. Notes through the door. A bottle left in the kitchen with no explanation. And my daughter won't stop screaming in her sleep.

Everyone thinks I'm imagining it. But I know what I saw. What I heard.

We finally found our dream home. But what if the nightmare lives next door . . . ?

Decent story.
I HATED the narrator’s voice of the toddler.
The whole story was quite unbelievable and Clara could have figured it out so much sooner if she wasn’t an idiot.
You hear noises coming from the loft but don’t ever go up there for what, months?
Who doesn’t look in the loft when they move into a new house?
And the loft was still full of old furniture including board games from the murdered family, yet they’re the 3rd family to live there.
Previous family had the same issues but neither of them looked into the loft and found the hidden door?
So 3 families have never looked into/cleared out the loft?
She hears all these noises coming from the loft, how about a lock/latch on the ceiling side so no one could open it from above?
Also. A hidden camera would have captured the ‘woman without a face’ straight away.
Still entertaining enough, but I found myself getting annoyed at the lack of common sense…

the first 3/4 of the story had me gripped and questioning who, why! I got a little over it by then as I felt myself losing interest but then the story ramped up again and my, it was worth staying for. a very twisted, macabre story with complex and deep characters.

kept me gripped and i loved the twists

Talk about gullible characters!!! Was an enjoyable read but found myself saying “duh” a lot to the mail characters for not working out quite obvious things through the book.

Always guessing

I liked the writing style and it was suspenseful. I did guess a lot of the twists but kept second guessing myself thinking something else may be coming.

Suspenseful

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

I wanted to keep listening, I felt the distain for some characters that the author built up.

plot

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

The ending felt a little rushed, there’s a lot of build up and then everything seems to happen at once but the outcome was satisfying. Overall a great listen and would read again.

All the characters had questionable traits which keep you guessing throughout most of the book.
