This story speaks of Brenda’s struggles while living at home in the south along with her other siblings working on the family farm as required. Although having pleasant acquaintances in her current metropolis; however, she still dreams of a better quality life somewhere other than her own hometown. The country girl resides in Jacksonville Georgia. She intentionally plants a message under what she calls her wishing tree; expressing aspirations of moving to New York one day to become a lawyer or engage in some type of significant employment.

Years later, after attaining a college education in New York, Brenda certainly achieved her dream of becoming an attorney employed at a prestigious law firm. While there she encounters a prospective romantic acquaintance. Then commence courting the corporate lawyer who turns out to be a philanderer. The discovery certainly breaks the county girl’s heart because of not being knowledgeable of the city’s smooth trickster types. Brenda’s heart breaks again after hearing of the death of her mother, she journeys back home for the funeral. While there she discovers a significant secret after retrieving the note that she planted years ago under her treasured oak wishing tree.
