Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Following the hugely successful Sunday Times best seller, Wainwright Golden Beer Book Prize nominee and Costa shortlister The Salt Path, we're delighted to make another exclusive announcement here about a new audiobook from the hugely talented Raynor Winn.

In The Wild Silence, Raynor tells us about taking on a chronically over-farmed piece of land that was given to her and Moth by a reader who was moved by their story in The Salt Path. This book is about readjusting to life after homelessness, but also about recovering trust and self-belief after a traumatic event - feelings that can translate to many episodes in the life of any of us. Through Raynor's exceptional writing, she will explore the hope she has of revitalising and of re-wilding this land - and also themes of lifelong love, nature and what it means to find a home.

beautiful again.

Fabulous pace pitch to the narration. Something anyone who loves nature and long walking trip couldn't but help love.

Abridged version would be suggested.

The first book, the salt path, was great! There was a lot of excitement and a lot to be said. The sequel however seems to be much longer than needed. There’s too many musings. It seems I have a light into a personal diary of somebody who has too much time on their hands and likes to experiment with their vocabulary and adjectives. I would definitely be skeptical to read another. It is sad to write this review as the first for such an enjoyable experience.

as good as the salt path

I loved the salt path so much that I was frightened to read this sequel, terrified it would not live up to my expectations. It surpassed them. This is, yet again, not only a heart-warming true story but also an inspiration, a comfort and a positive force for anyone dealing with illness, loss or any other challenges or setbacks in their lives.

Shame not read by Anne Reid

Loved the story, not the narrator. Anne Reid so much better on The Salt Path

inspirational

listening to this author read her own words makes it that much more special. She has made me realise how fast my life has become and how I don't appreciate the beauty around me. Today I stopped and stood just looking and listening to everything around me....I still don't think I could really see the beauty, but I'm going to continue to try. A truly inspiring story and I wish her and her family happiness.

Great to hear more about Raynor and Moth’s life

Raynor’s engaging, honest recount of events in her life is moving, interesting and it’s a bonus to have her narrate her own book. I like her reflections on the land, nature, life itself, love and loss.... and of making the most of life. She’s genuinely an inspiring woman. She feels like a friend that I haven’t met. I would recommend The Wild Silence to everyone that loved The Salt Path.

Another spiritually uplifting memoir from Winn

A wonderful account along a small branch of someone’s life told by Raynor Winn who has all her senses as wide open as her poetic heart. Uplifting. Godspeed Winn and Moth.

Engaging author-read listen

Loved that Raynor Winn reads her own story - adds something extra to what is already a great story telling the journey before and after The Salt Path, both real and metaphorical. It was lovely to find out more about Moth and Raynor’s earlier lives. The end chapters were surprising, what a slightly crazy thing to do! Highly recommended listen.

Second book as good as the first

I love Raynor’s turn of phrase it conjures up the imagery of the scenery & the people in such clarity that all you need to do is close your eyes & you’re there with Ray & Moth. Absolutely beautiful poignant writing.
