Publisher's Summary

In 1885, President Grover Cleveland commissioned a special group of agents to investigate paranormal activities plaguing the nation. Unwilling to accept failure, he granted each the authority to operate outside the law. His directive was simple. No rules. No excuses. Just get it done.

Remy Kincaid, the son of a pugilist and sharpshooter, is recruited with the promise of discovering those responsible for his father’s abduction. With the help of his cynical steed, Fable, he heads to the town of Wharton, Texas, to investigate the disappearance of several young children. As clues lead him from a decrepit old house to an abandoned silver mine, he soon learns that an ancient evil is trying to release itself upon the world.

To save the town of Wharton, he will need to call upon his incredible strength and courage to fend off wicked men and beasts alike. What he doesn’t realize is that the evil is already loose. If he is to have any hope of surviving, he must be more than a man.

He must be the Watchman.

Grabs your attention

This story contains a new premise that I have not read anywhere else. It is refreshing, engaging, and a joy to listen to. The narration is perfect. Characters are well developed, and almost believable as real. There is some tongue in cheek humor, too.
Can't wait for the next one......and you will love the horse.

Peter Marker Meets Texas Ranger

This is the origin story of a super hero who lived in the 1800’s. Just like the radio active spider turned Peter Parker into Spiderman a mysterious power transformed Remy Kincaid into the Watchman.

A very entertaining story. I look forward to the next book. At least I hope there will be a next book.

Silly, but entertaining

I'm a huge fan of the Survivalist series. Those books required a considerable suspension of disbelief, but after that they held together and were completely consistent. This is a lot different. It's certainly entertaining in a comic book sort of way. I'm probably criticizing too harshly because anachronisms always bother me and this is full of them. I'll listen to the next book in the series if there is one, but I'll be hoping for another chapter in the Survivalist series.

I didn't expect to like it but I did. A lot.

I saw this book in my suggestions and really thought it was another wild miss by Audible's suggestion algorithm or whatever they use. I don't read westerns, I don't read horror though I do read sci-fi, and I've never read this author. I also rarely buy an audiobook that is less than 8 hours long. I didn't have time for a long search so I took a chance, anyway. Every minute of this book was interesting. It was shorter than I usually like but there was no down time, no lag, no wading through the slow parts to get to the interesting bits. The narrator was also wonderful, and just right for the part. I really hope this will be a series.
