About this listen
“Make disciples of all nations.”
It’s an enormous task, one that extends far beyond the reach and resources of the local church. It’s a task that requires Christians to organize together into a broad range of ministries—often called "parachurch ministries".
But, sadly, even using the word "parachurch" can set pulses racing: the relationships between churches and other ministries over the years have not always been entirely smooth. So how can churches and parachurches think about and relate to each other well? How can they encourage and support one another for the growth of the gospel and the glory of God? These are vital issues that require fresh, biblical thought in every generation.
Pastor and parachurch leader Mikey Lynch’s deep reflections on this topic will help leaders and members of all types of ministries, whether church or parachurch, to think wisely and constructively not only about their own work, but also the wider "vine movement" of which they are just one part.
©2022 Michael Lynch (P)2022 Michael LynchMore importantly, the book itself is fantastic - a thoughtful, expansive, biblical discussion of various para church ministries and how the gospel ecosystem fits together, growing a deeper appreciation for God’s work in the world and offering helpful cautions and correctives for how this is done. His thorough research means this discussion hasn’t been defined by cultural trends, but a vast range of parachurch ministries that have existed throughout centuries (without excluding contemporary examples). Mikey challenges readers to think thoroughly and biblically about a range of topics, never assuming the status quo but always looking to wisdom and the word of God. Just like his last book, Mikey’s writing opened my eyes in new ways to how the Word of God speaks to broader societal structure as well as matters of the heart, and was a deeply encouraging read.
Fantastic thought-provoking book
