Publisher's Summary

At the age of 20, I never thought I'd have to make the choice between true love or my soul.

Then again, I never thought I'd be faced with any of the terrible, wonderful, impossible things that exist in Lyle Carraway's world. The vampire is a weakness I never even knew I had, and when he whispers promises of immortality and sensual luxury, it's more temptation than I can handle.

Good Catholic boys from small towns aren't supposed to make deals with the devil, but I never counted on him being this hard to resist. Or being the key to the family I've always wanted. If I accept his forbidden gift and turn out to be a prized male omega, there's a chance I could bear his baby and his name.

Too bad my guilty conscience isn't the only force conspiring to keep us apart.

This is a standalone vampire mpreg romance and the first in a series.

A different take on vampires

Henry is a young Catholic gay man. He hasn't really explored his sexuality because of his Catholic upbringing. Working as a waiter at a party, he discovers that the guests are all vampires! While saving the life of a female vamp, Henry is mortally wounded. The vamp's brother Lyle saves Henry with his blood, making Henry his Omega. A bit of a different take on vampire stories. Lyle and family all live together in a mansion. Lyle's family is very accepting of Henry and Lyle. The way they took care of him and treated him was totally unexpected based on other vampire stories. Good narration helped the story along. It will be interesting to see where the story goes in the next books in the series. Ok Story. HORRIBLE Narration.

Omgosh, it took everything in me to finish listening to this story. The narration was so horrible. JJ Jenness really needs more practice in his voice characters. Each voice he used were so vapid, boring, and just plan exasperating to listen to. I'd rather hear fingernails being clawed down a chalkboard. I wanted to like this story, and in all honesty it had potential. But Mr. Jenness completely obliterated any Hope's of redemption. I think this is a series, or, a book2, if JJ Jenness is the narrator, I will not purchase.😣

I love this story so much

I can't wait until the next story I love this series so much I can't wait until the third book comes out on Audible I really really can't wait I love these stories so much they're so complex but yet so much depth into their characters that I can't wait for the fact that the characters get into you they make you want to be those characters in a way and almost like this book of course the character the main character has a way of making that kind of way that you feel that maybe you don't feel the greatest or you're not looking the greatest and you actually get desired by someone that is really really really really hot so maybe it's just in our heads and not in what we look like but mostly in how we feel on the inside so I really really hope this helps I like the story a lot it really really sorry I stay at the really a lot of time so just give this book a chance cuz it's one of my favorite so hope this helps

Not bad

Mate stories are one of my favorites. Werewolves, vampires, shifters, and such. This was a great love story. I enjoyed the characters and their personalities. I had a difficult time getting past some inconsistencies with the story line, some editing mistakes, and some errors in the Audible reading. That is the main reason why I gave it only three stars. Overall, as my title says, not bad!

Wowza!

I can somewhat recall having a love/hate relationship with LC Davis, but the blurb on this one was intriguing—vampires, omegas, mpreg...love it all. But I am absolutely blown away by what I actually got! Guys, this is GOOD. It’s a unique storyline of its own despite the typical paranormal tropes being present. There’s some mystery, a good romance, great characters that you really get to know and love and an amazing HEA. And all this is accomplished within 5 hours (hallelujah!). This is actually so good that I had to get the Kindle version and finish it that way first because I needed to know what happened faster than the audio could provide. I think this is my first audio with JJ Jenness and I wasn’t disappointed there, either! He provided the perfect voice for Henry. If I could change ONE thing (and it’s big enough that I would be okay if it extended the audiobook by an hour or so), it would be the steamy times. There are a couple scenes—not particularly descriptive (definitely could be better there), but I would have preferred more. I would say overall that they were tastefully done—it’s just my personal preference to have more hot and steamy m/m action. Either way, I’ve already downloaded the next audiobook in this series and hope there will be more!

The Vampires Omega

One night changes Henry’s life forever. Working for a catering company has always been dull until that fateful night. When Henry puts his life on the line for a stranger, he finds that the things that go bump in the night are more than just stories. Can he follow his heart or will what his faith has drilled into him be what causes Henry to let his happy ever after slip away? I was interested in the way this story started out but did not find myself getting lost in the story. There was too much religious overtones for me to enjoy the story and its characters. I know the blurb states that Henry is Catholic, but it just seemed to take over the story for me. I would have liked to see more depth to the characters and more chemistry. There is a good amount of action and some romance in this story. The hints of the ins and outs of the vampire life were interesting, and I would love to see more. Even though this is Henry’s story it seems that Cora’s life and love is almost as big or a bigger focus than Henry’s. It is nice when we get to see Henry and Lyle have some private and connecting time. Their story is a sweet one that has you rooting for love and understanding. Enjoyable vampire Mpreg story

Enjoyable and entertaining vampire Mpreg story. The choice of JJ Janness as narrator provided a more light-hearted story in spite of the angst, danger, drama, betrayal, and blood-letting. It kept the story entertaining, and kept it from being a dark fantasy tale. The tit-for-tat strategies of the vampires and hunters seem destined to see a never-ending cycle of death and destruction, but maybe the mate choices of Lyle and his sister can change that. I liked that Lyle and his father respected Henry's beliefs and respected him enough to give him time to make his decision, instead of forcing a knee-jerk reaction and just killing him. I loved Henry's kindness and selflessness toward the people on both sides of the struggle, insisting that people not be hurt or killed. My only complaint about the story would be not hearing more of Lyle's thoughts and feelings. We learn pretty much everything that Henry is feeling, but all we know about Lyle's motivations comes from his father, until near the end when Lyle finally confesses how he feels. The narration was more easy-going and perky, rather than dark and gloomy. Very enjoyable voices. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this honest review.

Enjoyed the story, liked the narration

This was such a good story - a bit of a twist to typical vampire fare. I liked Henry a lot - a bit of a smartass with a good heart. After he save a vampires life? afterlife? he is given a 'choice' to be turned or truly die. Being a 'good' Catholic boy he chooses to die. I didn't think the book espoused on religion, more like a tongue in cheek look at how an individual uses their faith to live, (or die, as the case may be :) ). Lyle and his family were great. Loved the storyline, loved that Henry accepted that vampires could be charming but also monsters; just like his fellow humans. The narration was good, but in my opinion, not quite right for the story. JJ Jenness was great as Henry - he captured his 'just-turned-20' tone. He was also good with Cora's voice. On the other hand, he was good, (but not great with the older), more mature voices, especially Lyle's - though he was a bit better with their dad. Overall, I enjoyed listening to the narration - it's definitely a good way to enjoy the book. I requested and received a complimentary copy of this book. My opinions are voluntary.
