I found it hard to listen to someone so consumed with his own ego, wandering around in circles like a diseased whelerbeest and to think he was President just makes me feel ill.

Worthwhile actually hearing the interviews themselves which show how deeply unsuitably Trump was to hold the top position at a time of national disaster. You can hear the panic in his own words; the uncertainty; and dare I say it the fundamentally narcissistic nature of his personality in the tone of his conversation (rants) with Woodward, all in his own words. History will be his judge.

Subject matter aside, which in itself is extremely interesting, I very much enjoyed the insight into Bob Woodward's process and skill. Would recommend for journos who are anxious about combative or high profile interviews.

This is not just a story of American political leadership. It is the story of the lives of two men and their interactions; one utilising his wisdom, crafting his words, while the other attempts illegal moves of his chess pieces across the Scrabble board. Seriously though, intriguing on a number of levels, and with more of a narrative than you'd expect.

Having read the book previously I wondered what this would be like. My respect for the author has only been elevated… how on earth he sat through 20 interviews with someone so infantile and deranged is hard to fathom. Outstanding journalism and an end product that demonstrates that the subject is unfit in every conceivable way to hold office.
