Story
I always felt I wasn’t wired like my peers, but when my brother, Kellan, gave me three terms - ace, aromantic, and demi - I had possible names for it. Those three words have been on my mind ever since, as has my brother’s best friend, Josh Westbrook. It’s been cool getting to know him and spending time together, just us. He makes me feel something I never thought I’d be able to feel. When we end up alone in a cabin with only one bed, all my crossed wires finally connect and point toward being demi and wanting him.

We were 18 when I met Remington Monroe. I'd never seen anyone like him. He got onstage at the coffeehouse, armed with a guitar and corny jokes...but unable to hide his lonely eyes. When he sang, I was entranced. When we spent the night talking together, I knew my world would never be the same.

I wasn't supposed to fall for my older brother's best friend. Unfortunately, that ship sailed when I was a teenager, even though Chase Hawthorne always treated me like nothing more than a younger sibling. Things were worse after my parents died. Chase was sweet and supportive, which only strengthened my feelings for him. But then he'd act like I couldn't take care of myself, and that part didn't go over well with me. Yeah, I had a habit of screwing up.

OWEN - I learned early on to keep my expectations low. Somehow, I keep ending up disappointed anyway. Like now: I finally have an alpha, and I bet I could take him in a fight. I’m no expert, but I don’t think that’s how that’s supposed to work. Everything seemed good at first. Or as much as it was ever going to be, auctioned off to a strange alpha so I could pop out their litter. But hey, in this time of mysteriously low birth rates, we fertile omegas are a prized commodity - emphasis on the commodity. (No, I’m not bitter. Why do you ask?)

Story
Guys like Eli just aren't Mav's type, period. Yet he can't deny his intense attraction to the younger man who only looks at him with fear in his eyes. Until the day there's something else in those eyes, too. Something that draws Mav in and refuses to let go. Something that makes him want to forget his rules. But Mav's learned the hard way what happens when you get too close to something. And while he vows to protect Eli after a violent attack leaves the younger man shaken, protection is all he'll offer. Because anything else would just cost too much.
Publisher's Summary
Skylar
There are two things in this world I know to be true: I have terrible taste in men, and all alphas are jerks. Also, there tends to be a lot of overlap there.
You’d think my own pack kicking me out would’ve been a clue to stay away from alphas. Omegas are rare. We’re smaller, weaker, can’t usually get pregnant...all valid reasons for disowning your own family, right? Like I said. Jerks.
But it only took one night for stupidly handsome Troy Miyu to make me forget all the reasons I should’ve known better. One night to start falling for him, to realize it wasn’t just amazing chemistry we shared, but a true mate bond.
One night for him to leave me pregnant and alone. To make me swear off ever trusting an alpha again. Let alone him.
But now he’s back, and resisting my every attempt to keep him away from me - and the daughter I’m trying to hide. Alphas took my pack from me once, I’m not going to let one take my child, too. Even if he’s saying the words I would’ve given anything to hear once upon a time...that fairy tale’s over. It’s not about what I want anymore, its about what’s best for my daughter.
Then she starts showing signs of being an alpha herself. Needing things only her alpha father can give her.
And I have to wonder...is it really her I’m trying to protect here?
Troy
All my life, my parents have criticized me for not being responsible enough. I always told myself they’re wrong...but its a little harder to deny when coming from the man I left behind.
I wish I knew why I freaked out and ran years ago. Most people go their whole lives without finding their true mate. It should have been a blessing. But I was young and immature. So obsessed with being my own man, with refusing to let other people define me. Label me.
Even when all they wanted to label me was lover. Mate. Partner.
Now I’m trying my best to fix my greatest mistake, but he’s as stubborn as I am. And with good reason. I know I hurt him. I’d give anything to take it back.
But all I can do is move forward, and this time, I’m not going anywhere unless he’s coming with me.
This 50,000 word novel about true mates, mpreg, and second chances has a bumpy road on the way to that HEA, but if you’re eighteen years of age and older, come along for the ride!

Enjoyable
I love shifter stories, and this story I enjoyed. The narration/narrator did a good job. The only little complaint I have, is, periodically in the narration I had a little trouble distinguishing the voices of the two main characters. I look forward in the future to listen to other stories by the author, and hope there will be a book two of this one!🤗

What troubles can come in one night!
Skylar is an Omega. Troy is an Alpha. They had a one night stand and consequences followed.
I really enjoyed this story. The characters are well written and the plot is entering. I do believe there is a lot of drama and mistrust but it is understandable within the storyline.

Really good!
I really liked this book, and as an audiobook it’s even better. The story was great! Well written, emotional and of course with a great ending.
The narrator too did a great job! He has a nice voice and narration style. He gave appropriate voices to the characters and showed emotion.

better than i was expecting
Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes
What did I like about the story? Good pace, interesting characters and well written. I'm satisfied Troy and Skyler's personal growth throughout this book will put them on a path to true happiness.
Overall comment: As a young and determined alpha, with a strong sense of responsibility, Troy's behaviour at running from Skyler didn't sit right with me, however his explanation felt valid if somewhat selfish, his actions though, turned my opinion of him and I felt he is worthy of Skyler in the end.
Narrator comment: Kip Henderson has done a good job narrating The Time Between Us. I felt the emotion and chemistry between the characters and he bought the book to life. That being said, I have become more familiar with narrators giving different voices (and sound) to each character, this isn't one of those types of narration. The personalities of each of the characters are what gave the different voice more so than the individual sound and I found if i wasn't concentrating on the story I lost track of which character was speaking.

Troy was a jerk and arrogant punk most of story
Troy was a major disappointment as an alpha from day one. He let his mom push him around, then he ran from his fated mate like a punk, because he's not ready for it, then he doesn't have the guts to tell mommy he likes a man!!! WTH! His arrogance and demands upon returning enraged me. How dare he- punk move.
Was he the pack leader or was mommy dearest leader. He let her walk all over him and disrespect the crap out of him- WEAK! Troy's response to Skylar was immature. Why attack him? The more I listened, the madder I got at Troy's pathetic leadership and non support of Skylar!!! Mom should have been stopped and put in her place eons ago. That's weak! Why does it take an entire story before Troy mans up and supports his man??? Yay for Ang and Tris. Can't wait. The narrator's voice and expressions were great and made the story pop. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this story and am giving an honest review.

Not the worst shifter story...
This is one of those books that (IMO) writers just "crank out." The story is very formulaic, the characters shallow, the hate unrealistic and the stupidity cringeworthy. There are some small grammatical errors and minor inconsistencies. The narrator does an adequate job of injecting emotion but ALL his characters sound THE SAME. It's practically impossible to tell one from another.
I dnf and don't recommend this. I think there are better shifter options with better narration.

Finding Home
This was really good. There were lots of tears and lots of laughs. Skylar has been through so much in his life for someone so young. I can’t even imagine all of that, he finally finds a home place to belong and a family to support him. Troy is a good Alpha but he has a lot to learn about life. When he finally pulls his head out and gets his act together he has a whole lot to make up for. When they finally manage to get everything worked out they have lots of chemistry and a great connection. I love watching them grow closer and learn all about each other. I like how the narrator brings them all to life in this story.

A Good Book
What a sensational book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters captivating. The characters were developed and thought out. Skylar and Troy are the MC’s of this book. The narration was by Kip Henderson who is a new narrator to me. Although the narrators voice didn’t work for me. He did a good job narrating he wasn’t monotone, and the flow of his narration was good. So overall it was well done. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Troy and Skylar
Troy goes out of town for a break from his pack. He meets Skylar at a bar. Skylar is an omega, saved from a horrible death from his own pack. Now he is wary pf Alphas, but one night with Troy changes his life and the perception of omegas not being able to conceive. I felt for Skylar and his very protective friend. They form a family along with his beautiful daughter. Will Troy destroy all that? Great narration by Mr Henderson.

as good as the ebook
The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Loved it.
Skylar get a shock when at 14, he discovers he is an omega, instead of the alpha he expected to be. Omega's are seen as a bad omen and Skylar has to fend for himself, then one day alpha Troy walks into the bar he works at and everything chances.
Troy needed a break from his meddling mother who wants him to mate. So, finding his mate wasn't on his agenda. But than he meets Skylar.
