Realistic merged family emotions

I have very much enjoyed the novels of LJ in the past, The House We Grew Up In being quite exceptional I felt (particularly the reading of it on audible)
This latest offering has some real highlights- the emotions of those involved in merged family scenarios portrayed very well.
However without spoilers, I could not have been more disappointed with the weakness (and this felt lack of realism) in the decisions of certain individuals in the latter part of the book...
Now off to Melody Browne - can’t be that bad if I’m going to crack through the three in quick succession .....

Amazing.... Couldn't put it down.

Lisa all credit to you!!! Your writing is truly fantastic. Great to read a book symbolising so many human emotions. So glad there was a great lesson at the end.
The narrator was Brill. Couldn't believe how she was able to portray each character so convincingly... Best book I've listened to in a long time. Shed a few tears in chapter 46.

I finished it but...

What a selfish man and what a yeuky ending. It was ok until the final few chapters that went on far too long and made me despise the father more and more.

Very deep

Gives a lovely insight from the children’s point of view as to how divorce affects them

A journey to behold

I loved the various interpretations, the dynamic and persona created by on mans weakness. A beautiful story with endless intrigue. Loved the characters and the narration was beautiful, a joy to listen to.

Another compelling Lisa Jewell

I love Lisa Jewell’s writing. They are always very character orientated with engaging storylines. This book is brilliant, a little unrealistic, but great characters coupled with first class narration. It gives a good insight into relationships after divorce and delivers an interesting moral message. Kept my interest to keep listening. I think Lisa Jewell is a very clever writer. Highly recommended.

Another great page turner.

Dark but light in equal measure. Good twists and turns throughout. Amazing narration and comedy value

Struggled to finish it...

I have listed to all available Lisa Jewell books and have loved them all but sadly not this one. i would praise the author on her other books for the superb narraters but unfortunately for me Emma Gregory just didnt have me gripped.
The male voice of Luke grated on me and i found myself drifting off often during the story. in fairness to EG the story was not my favourite so it was probably a combination of the two.
i did see it to the end but to honest the ending was terribly weak so wish i hadn't bothered.

Very dull with awful narration

I made it to about 3 hours before giving up as by then nothing had happened and the characters were completely unrealistic . the narration is simply awful and you need to have the volume on max to just hear it.
