Publisher's Summary

Perfect listening for fans of Ruth Ware and Alex Michaelides.

When a young woman is discovered brutally murdered in her own apartment, with an intricate pattern of lines carved into her face, Copenhagen police detectives Jeppe Korner and Anette Werner are assigned to the case. They very quickly establish a link between the victim, Julie Stender, and her complex landlady, Esther de Laurenti. Esther also turns out to be a budding novelist - and when Julie turns up as a murder victim in the still-unfinished mystery she's writing, the link between fiction and real life grows more urgent.

But is Esther guilty or merely another victim in a far more dangerous game of vengeance? Anette and Jeppe must dig more deeply into the two women's pasts to discover the secret that links them both.

Too complex lost the thread

I lost track 1/2 way through the book which was beautifully narrated. Just too complicated for me

Started off well slowed dow at end

I really loved this to start interesting characters and a bloody murder but it just got boring I had to stop about 10 mins towards end.

Interesting story with equally interesting characters

I liked the build up of this story. About half way through the book I had a suspicion what happened, and turned out to be correct. Not because it was predictable (not at all!!) but because the author is very good at hiding the proverbial gun, and that’s something I am very sensitive to. The story has layers as do the characters. I’m curious to read more by this author

Gripping...

...an intriguing tale. Well read, though it did take a little time getting used to the narrator, would have liked a Scandinavian reader, but still a great audio.
