Eileen is sick of being 79.
Leena's tired of life in her twenties.
Maybe it's time they swapped places...

When overachiever Leena Cotton is ordered to take a two-month sabbatical after blowing a big presentation at work, she escapes to her grandmother Eileen's house for some overdue rest. Eileen is newly single and about to turn eighty. She'd like a second chance at love, but her tiny Yorkshire village doesn't offer many eligible gentlemen.

Once Leena learns of Eileen's romantic predicament, she proposes a solution: a two-month swap. Eileen can live in London and look for love. Meanwhile Leena will look after everything in rural Yorkshire. But with gossiping neighbours and difficult family dynamics to navigate up north, and trendy London flatmates and online dating to contend with in the city, stepping into one another's shoes proves more difficult than either of them expected.

Leena learns that a long-distance relationship isn't as romantic as she hoped it would be, and then there is the annoyingly perfect - and distractingly handsome - school teacher, who keeps showing up to outdo her efforts to impress the local villagers. Back in London, Eileen is a huge hit with her new neighbours, but is her perfect match nearer home than she first thought?

I loved this! Was so skeptical that it couldn't possibly be as good as The Flat Share, but it really was. The warmth, the endearing characters, the fact that one of the protagonists is a sweet elderly lady? It was such a lovely book to read and I will 100% be reading it again! The performance was great, storyline was funny and heartwarming, and the romance/s are poignant and beautifully portrayed.

Can't wait for whatever Beth O'Leary brings out next!

Just As Sweet As The Flat Share!

I usually switch between audio and ebook so I can read in different situations but I loved this narration so much I just had to listen to the entire book. Obviously it helps that the story was also brilliant. The Switch is more women's fiction than romance but there were enough romantic elements to satisfy me. Where the story really excels is in the authenticity of the characters and there were heaps of them! Loved it all.

Loved the audiobook, brilliant narration

A good story but as with "Flatshare" the ending is predictable and all a bit too neat. Nevertheless a worthy read.

Enjoyable

I was sceptical based on the blurb but went for it anyway. It was a lovely story and an easy read. The two main characters were well narrated. Surely gives us a bit more appreciation for those all around regardless of age. Made me miss my Nanny.

Surprise me - easy listen.
