About this listen
Wyatt Hernandez is working a dead-end tech job at the Miami Science Museum, struggling to support himself and his sister. An expulsion from Yale University made him largely unemployable and left him uninspired and utterly lost.
Roman Ashford is working different "jobs" and raking in the cash. But one job promises the biggest reward yet. In order to complete it, he has to assemble a crew: the Rainbow's Seven.
Roman is at six out of the seven when he goes to Wyatt for help, knowing how skilled the freckle-faced man is behind a computer. He explains it's a heist that would have them traveling the world, promising riches beyond belief.
If they succeed.
It might have been an easy choice for Wyatt, if only Roman hadn't been the primary reason behind his expulsion—along with being his first and only love.
Things grow more complicated when a rival group shows that they'll stop at nothing to finish the heist first. Suddenly, more than the success of the job is on the line. The crew will be put through a series of harrowing tests, and so will Roman and Wyatt's second chance at a happily ever after.
Contains mature themes.

Didn’t work for me!
The quiet peace of Wyatt Hernandez’s snoozy job at the Miami Science Museum is shattered when two rival gangs decide to have a shoot out in the main foyer in their quest to get their hands on an item that will provide untold riches. Wyatt is shocked to recognise the leader of the Rainbow’s Seven gang: it’s Roman, a one-time boyfriend who let him down big time. While Wyatt just wants to be left alone, he soon finds himself the meat in a “gang sandwich” when both gangs realise his potential.
I was really excited to read this but it was a big swing and miss for me. There are some great but brief action scenes and things happen at breakneck speed but the tone just felt off. I think it was the weird mix of intensive madcap action alongside the romance. The Rainbow Seven were a supposedly internationally ruthless gang but in their downtime, they were all sensitive and talking about their personal Iives and feelings, it felt like two stories being forced into one book. Also, because the two gangs are both criminal, I wasn’t convinced why I should care whether one side or the other got the prize; I didn’t have a good sense of justice or moral rightness to guide me and I didn’t feel a connection with Wyatt or Roman to tip the scales in their favour. Finally, cliffhanger—ugh, nope! 🎧 Iggy Toma is a favourite narrator but his strengths lie in emotional heartfelt stories, not action stories. He was the wrong choice here and it added to my weird juxtaposed feelings!
