For seven unsuspecting victims, death comes in the dark....

Once a luxurious getaway for a wealthy Southern family, the Summer House in rural Sullivan, Georgia, has long since fallen into disrepair and become a decaying rental property. But now it is also the scene of an horrific mass murder.

Shocking evidence points to four Army Rangers recently returned from Afghanistan. To ensure that justice is done, the Army sends Major Jeremiah Cook, a war veteran and former NYPD cop, to investigate. But Cook and his team are hindered at every turn by local law enforcement, who resists the Army's intrusion.

As Cook and his squad struggle to put together pieces of evidence that just won't fit, powerful forces rally against them to try to ensure that damning secrets die alongside the victims in the Summer House.

difficult to follow for an audio book

the story started out quite exciting however dragged on and I struggled to complete it. too many characters and difference scenes for an audio book, I got lost as who the characters were and which side they were on then lost interest. ad a paperback would be easier to grasp.

The Summer House

Wow, what a book, certainly one of the best for the year! I had to force myself to stop listening/reading all in one go. The story was excellent and the tension unbearable at times. Loved every minute of it. The narration was excellent.

Another crunch out

Another Patterson cooperative crunch out book. Probably eorks wonders for his fortune but less so for the story. Characters, story and writing doesn’t really catch.

Never Disappoints

James Patterson is an author that I don't even read the blurb for anymore - it just gets bought. This was a longer book for him and I highly enjoyed it. The opening chapter sets it up for a fast paced thrill ride. I couldn't wait to find out how it was all going to unfold and I wasn't disappointed. This is a stand alone story, but I could see these characters getting a series of their own. Great read.

Great performance, predicable story

The narrator was excellent but story was too predicable with a real slump towards the finale

Fast paced, intriguing and excellent narration

This is my first James Patterson audio book and I was expecting something really good. I was not disappointed. Very well paced throughout, it really kept you thinking and second guessing. I also really enjoyed the narration. All too often poor narration can spoil a perfectly good book, so I was relieved that it was of the same high quality as the book itself. I thoroughly recommend this audio book and look forward to another from this author.
