A sexy start to a new sports series
A football romance from Ana Huang? Yes, please! The Twisted and Kings of Sin author scores big time with her first sports romance, the story of a Premier League footballer who falls for his rival’s sister, a former prima ballerina. While I don’t come across it often, I really love duet-style narration –where each performer reads the dialogue and action of their character across all chapters – and here, narrators Shane East and Stella Hunter make Huang’s sexy banter truly shine, volleying back and forth to create the most delicious romantic tension. Their charming accents and smooth delivery of swoony heartfelt words had me pining for Asher and Scarlett to find their happily ever after. I didn't finish because the female narrator had the worst english accent, so over done & ridiculous. Read on kindle instead.

I loved the story! The voice actors are each very talented, with a huge range of accents and cadences. I'm just not a fan of duet audios. E.g. instead of Asher reading all the voices in his chapters, Scarlett read the female lines, and I found this distracting. I prefer the style of the Twisted Love audios where each character reads the entirity of their chapters.

This story marks Ana's first foray into sports romance, but it still holds the luxurious and ostentatious settings of most of her books!
At times I struggled with the length of the story, but it still remains an enjoyable and immersive read with the deep themes and narratives explored.
The Striker particularly focuses on the concepts of found family, healing, illness and grief, which tugged at my heartstrings and made me enjoy the characters and their backstories.

Narrators: I LOVE SHANE EAST! He really bought life to Asher Donovan! I struggled a little bit with Stella Hunter's Scarlett, but the acting was absolutely spot on!
Overall, an enjoyable listen!

I usually love Ana Huang’s books - so much so that I had this pre-ordered! I’m afraid I really didn’t love this one …. The storyline was so drawn out that it could have been an 8 hr book and where was the spice? It didn’t get spicy til the 2nd half of the last chapter … but the narrators were great so I persevered. Anyway, I still love Ana Huang so looking forward to King of Envy !
