Publisher's Summary

It started with one night out with the boys. She was the hot diner waitress putting herself through school. I was the rich, arrogant player everyone misjudges. On paper, we didn’t match. Yet all it took was one day. One single day to change her mind.

She wasn’t planning to spend her day off with me. She wasn’t supposed to fall for my charm. But one day, one smile, turned into several nights of her calling out my name.

I’m not the guy she should end up with. I’m jealous, possessive. Not here for a long time - just a good time. She’s changed me. But, for some reason, I feel her slipping through my fingers, and no matter what I do, I fear I’m going to strike out with the one and only girl I’ve ever fallen for.

Another great book in the Brentwood Boys Series! I am loving this series and this book was a little deeper than the rest for me so far. I enjoyed the almost love at first sight feel this story had. Harmony and Holt had chemistry and I thought this book was hotter than the others in the series. I will admit the jealousy thing is never something I like in romance and this book had a few scenes of very overdone and uncalled for jealousy drama but even with that I still really enjoyed this romance. I loved how things worked out in the end and when it was over my heart was happy!

The narration was great, both narrators were perfectly cast for these characters.

I did not see Holt Green coming! I think I have a new favorite in the Towel Brigade!

Well, well, well. I did not see Holt Green coming. I thought he was going to be a shyer guy, a little more reserved given the limited details in the previous books in which he was a side character. Boy was I wrong. Man, the mouth on that guy. Phew. I loved it. He was also so honest, sometimes to his detriment, genuine, funny, and caring. I felt a little like Harmony in that I was gobsmacked by him. It was so believable that they fell so hard and fast for each other. They were such a perfect match, and balanced each other so ideally.

Meghan’s characters always have so much depth. You understand the bad decisions, the things that go wrong. It would be so easy to make the same choices in the same situation. With this, the growth is always so sincere and important to the story, to the couple’s future. Harmony changed the most in this story, but it was a shift in outlook, in perspective, and what’s important. Holt grew as a man. It was a growth of character, not a change in personality. They stayed fun, and playful, and adorable.

Holt and Harmony are the youngest couple in the Towel Brigade to get their HEA, but this couple’s communication, growth, willingness to be what the other needs may be the most mature of all the couples. You believe they will make it work despite the road ahead. I really loved this couple.

Connor Crais, oh my. He was the perfect Holt. He had the perfect fun loving, passion, intensity, and funny aspects to his voice and timing. Seriously, the narration made me love Holt even more. I love Mackenzie Cartwright in a strong female role. She has the perfect tone for Harmony’s personality. They were both so great at each other’s characters and the side chcartacters as well. Fantastic audio!

First impressions are not always correct

We firstmett Holt in Knox's story where we found him being secretive and texting someone he wouldn't tell the other players about. The someone was Harmony. This is Holt and Harmony's story. The meet ugly sets the tone for their relationship as Harmony is constantly distrustful of Holt and consistently puts down his sport, the difficulty he faces in going pro, and how hard he works to maintain his position on the team. She seems to think that just because his family has money and hers does not, that he has everything handed to him on a silver platter. She is extremely closed-minded and looks for ulterior motives in every action Holt does even to the point of sabotaging her own future by refusing the offer of a paid internship from a company that Holt's father owns. I felt like Holt got the short end of this relationship stick. They did end up with a HEA.

This was my least favorite book in the "Towel Brigade".

The narrators, Connor Fraud and Mackenzie Cartwright, did a great job bringing these characters to life.

This is not a jock romance

Holt is a baseball player and a college student getting drunk in a dinner where Harmony waitress to pay the student loans. They have the worst first impression, full of judgmental assumptions and defense mechanisms but they were hooked from the start. Holt is the sunshine, the go getter and the chaser in this book and Harmony is the rational, stubborn and jaded by college players. I never wanted to read, or listen to, college romance because I believe that the characters will be too immature to make the decisions one must make during a romance story but this book and the narrators just grabbed my heart and didn't let go. I laughed so much with Pryia, agreed with Harmony, cried with Holt and ended up wanting to hug all the adults in the book. The narrators brought another level of emotions for me making me cry every time Connor Crais' voice broke during a sad dialogue or shiver when they were whispering delicious things to each other. I couldn't recommend it more.

Delightful

I love these 2 and best narration with Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright! In Knox’s book, we knew Holt secretly texting someone during the baseball game or at the party. This is Holt’s love story! I truly fell in love with Holt’s sense of humor and outright flirting with our dear Harmony! Harmony was very cautious about love and so scared to live it up! They were very compatible couple and you just enjoy the ride the college romance they got together. Great Storyline for a fun and delightful read ! So, if you adore fun-loving, sweet, a little sizzle & a surprise baby, this is for you!

Meghan Quinn wrote a fantastic book with The Strike Out. I loved the imagery and the characters. Both Conner Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright brought the characters to life. I found myself laughing out loud. Having been to many baseball games, I could envision so many details.

Brentwood Boys are back!

Quinn knocks it out of the park with Holt & Harmony's story! Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright were perfectly cast for this audio! You will laugh, you'll swoon, you'll smile, and you'll feel all the things through the journey these two take to find their HEA! Im not a huge fan of the cocky jock types (much like Harmony at the beginning of this book!) but Holt soon won me over and this story was so much fun! It has heart, heat, and humor! Can be read as a standalone! Excellent narration!!!

Another homerun!!!

Another Meghan Quinn book knocks it out of the field. I mean, can I just say it's Meghan Quinn... you want to read it and you'll love it. You'll laugh. You'll swoon. You'll sigh and smile. I was smitten with Holt. I mean he was so enamored with Harmony, right from the start. But this isn't just a walk to first base... oh no, Harmony struggles with athletes and really doesn't want to like Holt. It wouldn't be a Quinn book if she didn't sneak a low ball in there and hit her readers right in the heart.

The narrators were seriously just what I wanted for this book. Connor Crais is quickly becoming one of my favorite male narrators. He has this voice that walks the line of fun and serious. He sounds playful, like Holt. But I can also feel his attraction and desire for Harmony. MacKenzie Cartwright is also perfect as Harmony. She sounds just like I imagine Harmony... a bit of frustration and aggravation at the athletes. But she has humor and heart in there too but that animosity is front and center in the beginning.

The Strike Out

"When you have faith in yourself and the people you surround yourself with, then it's easy to be optimistic."

Holt and Harmony meet at the local dinner at the end of summer break and their first meeting does not go very well since Harmony does not like jocks. Holt becomes intrigued as to why Harmony does not like athletes and makes it his mission to figure her out.

I loved the playfully witty banter between Holt and Harmony and their connection and chemistry is steamy. Holt is not your typical rich, entitled athlete, he definitely had many layers to him. Harmony is hard-working, goal-oriented, and knows what she wants. I enjoyed the somewhat insta-love but also borderline slow burn combination and I am not a huge fan of slow-burn romances. There were some parts in the book where the mc's seemed a little too immature for their age.

Audio … Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright did a great job of bringing the characters and story to life. Their voices really complimented each other well.

I loved this story so much!

I absolutely loved this story, it's a sweet slow burn, hate to love romance. The story of Harmony and Holt, it's full of emotions, you will cry, laugh, and be torn for this couple. I'm more used to Meghan Quinn's full-on romcoms, however, I think I love the emotional side of this book and would love to read more in the future like this one, with special twists that have me invested in the story. The audiobook narrated by Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright was simply fantastic, I enjoyed every minute of it as I usually do with all Meghan Quinn's audios.

Might be my favourite MQ book to date

I think Holt Green might be my favourite MQ hero yet. And he had mighty boots to fill. But the banter and the flirting between him and the sassy, closed off, independent Harmony Styles was OFF. THE. CHARTS. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face and I actually dragged this read out because I didn't want it to be over. I rarely do with rom-com's from one of the queens of the (sub)genre. This is definitely grumpy/sunshine but the girl is the grump this time and Holt...my darling Holt is the sweetest...well expect those times when he isn't, but I don't wanna talk about that..READ THIS. For fun times, for laughs, for brilliant writing and such great friend groups and a couple that I just want to have all the good things. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Holt and Harmony!

After a night out Holt and the boys decide to finish up their evening at the diner where he makes a less than favorable impression on their waitress. She believes that he is nothing but an entitled athlete who has never had to work for anything in his life but rather than it being a deterrent he is determined to prove her wrong.

Harmony is a woman who not only attends college but needs to work as well so having to serve a group of exuberant men who seem to think life is a party is not how she wanted to spend her evening. She never expected to see him again and she certainly never expected to develop feelings for him despite her determination not to.

Holt may be charming but it is the caring side of him that draws you in while Harmony has struggled for everything she has so she may be fiery but she is also cautious. Their interactions are humorous and hot but it is the emotional connection that they develop that makes their relationship so special. The narrators brought out all the chemistry and humor of the story and the characters.

The save of a great story

Meghan Quinn does it again. Book 7 in the series. The world-building was is very well done and the descriptions given make it easy to visualise everything. Both the characters are very different but they are also very well drawn which makes them totally believable. I really loved this new listen .
Hero is Holt. Heroine is Harmony.
This story is fantastic, you get to meet Knox , Jason and Colt in the story before they meet their other half’s . Well written and leaves you wanting more! Narration was very well done, the story line flows smoothly Both Holt and Harmony have trust issues, that they both don’t realize they need to get over

Mackenzie Cartwright and Connor Crais was fantastic. I couldn’t put it down. Both of the performance drew you in

Breathtaking Journey to Love!

This is the seventh book in The Brentwood Boys Series, a Sports Romance. Holt and Harmony's story is beautifully written, sweet, fun, emotional, and romantic. They are opposites attract. Holt is such a handsome character, caring, and supportive, but he is a little too controlling, overprotective, and possessive. Harmony is lovely, resilient, and independent, but she has insecurities, and she constantly overthinking all. Her push and pull attitude is exhausting. Their journey to love is breathtaking, filled with drama, and angst. The supporting characters are great. This is a great addition to The Brentwood Boys Series. I like the friendship in this story, and I loved to see again the characters from the previous books! Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright did a fantastic job with the narration. They are perfect as Holt and Harmony, and I love their voices together. I enjoyed it.

God, baseball is hot🔥

I loved so many things in the Strike Out...the Hallmark Architect, the texts with the guys, how swoon worthy Holt is:)

Seriously, Holt & Harmony are so ridiculously hot together...I mean holy hot BJ Harmony🔥 my girl made Holt forget his name!!

“Sometimes the right person comes out of nowhere. When you’re not looking for love is sometimes when you actually find it.”—they fell hard & fast for each other. As the saying goes ‘when you know you know’ and they knew. Life had different plans for them but they did what they needed to do and their relationship was better for it.

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 Holt💘Harmony!

Meghan Quinn pens another fabulously delightful novel for “The Brentwood Baseball Series”. This is the seventh book of the wonderful series and my third, I had the pleasure to binge listen to the first three books of the series, if you have not started this series yet take advantage of that recently released box set. The books can be enjoyed on their own but some of the characters appear in each others books and it is great to know and see them when they pop up again. Plus the books are enjoyable and entertaining, I will be catching up with the others in between this and the first three soon. This book is Holt Green and Harmony Styles’ story, Holt is one of the elite Brentwood boys, he is in his junior year, which is the year scouts pick up the most promising players. He lives with the other team members in what is referred to as the baseball loft, he is a down to earth guy despite coming from money. Harmony Styles works at the diner to make end meet, she resents the elite jocks who are treated like gods, have full ride scholarships and get carte blanche on campus. She feels the money spent on the jocks and their schooling could be going to more deserving people. When Holt takes interest in her she wants nothing to do with him, she even lets him know her dislike for athletes, albeit she also dated a football player who did her wrong and left a bad taste in her mouth. Holt is determined to win her over and he sets off to do just that. I love how everything played out in this book, Holt and Harmony’s story is beautifully plotted with the perfect balance of romance, humor, drama, as well as heartfelt and emotional moments. Meghan Quinn, thank you for another fabulously entertaining story, I am loving this series and your writing style, the characters and storylines are awesome.

🎧📚🎧And for the wonderful narration, Meghan Quinn cast the perfect narrators to bring her characters and story to life. Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright are talented narrators and a versatile voice artists. They do an awesome job portraying these characters, humanizing them giving each their own voice and personality. I love how they take each role and make it their own sounding believable and just how I picture the characters to sound. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project them into their performance. They set the perfect tone of the story, handle the witty dialogue with ease and land the humor flawlessly. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen🎧

It’s a home run!

Rather than the Strike Out, this should be titled the Home Run! Holt and Harmony's story is sweet and delicious! Who says you can't fall in love with your waitress? Holt spots Harmony when she takes the teams order, and when she doesn't give them the time of day, he is intrigued. Harmony has no interest in the elitist athletes, and his attention in unwanted. Until it's not! Together, this slow burning romance takes us through their lives. The passion, the decisions, the love, the secrets, the heartbreak all play into our hearts. Holt is swoony and wonderful, though he can be a bit controlling. Harmony is a little stubborn for me, overly cautious, but that is what makes her interesting. It's a fabulous look at college life, friends and the future. Another fantastic addition to the Brentwood Brothers.

Connor Crais fits Holt so perfectly, it's like Quinn had him in minds as she wrote him. His voice holds all the love and warmth, and his protective worrying is spot on. Mackenzie Cartwright is a favorite of mine, and she grabs hold of Harmony and makes her real. Her voice has that hesitancy under the love she feels, and it creates that true to self person Harmony is. These two always complement each other and it was a great listen.

New book boyfriend

Oh. My. Lawd.
Hello, Holt. I’ve heard about you and your man-thongs throughout many books. Finally we meet.
It was everything I had hoped for and more.
Heart stolen, panties incinerated. New book boyfriend acquired.

Holt and Harmony’s story was exceptional. Sweet, funny, sexy as all hell, they both stole my heart within a few chapters.
Holt—with his persistence, sweetness and positivity.
Harmony—with her unapologetic honesty, her wit and her sass.
They were absolutely lockerroom material.

Not that their story was all sunshine and roses...
They had their faults, their doubts, their struggles (which, I just need to say – they nearly sent me into several panic attacks) but they worked it through, came out stronger.

I would love to see where they are now!

Connor and Mackenzie completely nailed the audio.
Once again, Meghan has earned herself a top-reads-2021 status with this book. Extra props for the little Easter eggs hidden within it.

Another cracker!

Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright team up to bring Holt and Harmony to life in this fabulous aural performance of The Strike Out by Meghan Quinn.

As always the words penned by this author are, at times, laugh out loud funny with moments of sentimentality, frustration and even some downright idiocy.

All this mixed together gives us a beautiful story of boy meets girl and eventually, they live happily ever after.

All in all a great addition to the audio library of this amazing author.
