Story
As the only daughter, Sylvia Miller of The Tinderbox has always held a special place in her Old Order family, one Adeline Pelham jeopardizes when she shows up at the Millers' Hickory Hollow farm. It isn't that Adeline means to be a threat, but her very existence is a reminder of the painful secret that has so recently upended the Miller household. And with Sylvia and her mother still struggling to come to terms with that news, this is a challenging time to welcome an Englisher - especially this Englisher - into their midst.

Muscle weakness has left Grace Wagler with a broken body - and her childhood best friend has left her with a broken heart. She can hold her own in the timber camp (and do everything else the other women in Badger Creek can do), but in an Amish district where women outnumber men three to one, marriage is an unlikely prospect for a girl with bad legs. Ben Eicher just arrived in Michigan from Pinecraft, Florida. When his most recent shenanigans proved too much for his daed’s patience, Ben was sent to the Upper Peninsula to work in the lumber camp.

Publisher's Summary
Anna is eager to begin a new chapter in her life as a Lancaster County tour guide in the picturesque area where her Plain grandmother once stayed. Anna wishes she could talk with her grandmother about those long-ago days, but the elderly woman suffers from Alzheimer's, and beyond a vague hint about an old stone wall, much about that time is a mystery. Thankfully, Martin Nolt, a handsome Mennonite, takes the young Beachy Amish woman under his wing for her training, familiarizing her with the many local highlights, including Peaceful Meadows Horse Retreat, which serves children with special needs. The retreat's mission so inspires Anna that she returns to volunteer, and she quickly strikes up a friendship with Gabe Allgyer, the young Amish widower who manages it.
As Anna grows closer to both Martin and Gabe, she finds herself faced with a difficult choice - one in potential conflict with the expectations of her parents. Will Anna find true love and the truth about her grandmother's past in Lancaster County? Or will she find only heartbreak?

The Stone Wall
I really enjoyed the story of making life decision by learning to wait on God. Anna had to make an all important decision involving love and not regret. The outcome made me feel very joyous after learning the sadness of mammi 's young love.

Stupendous! Great story and histor lesson!
Loved it. Beverly Lewis never disappoints. The storyline was exceptional, and the history and differences between Beachy Amish, Old Order Amish, and Mennonite so good. Anna, Mart , Gabe and Emmy will tug at your heart. Stone Neilson as narrator is fantastic. Loved every minute of listening.

Really slow
Usually, I love Beverly Lewis books but this one is hard to follow. It is very slow without much unusual added information that keeps you fascinated. The last two chapters are good. Stina reads wonderfully.

Best Audible Book Yet!
I just loved this story! I listen to books when I exercise. Having MS I must do this seated. I found myself listening to this as I worked through out the day too! I have read books many of Beverly Lewis. I throughly enjoy them. It has been awhile since I’ve read one and should have remembered I usually can’t wait to read her books quickly! Many thanks for a most enjoyable book experience!
