Story
You cannot have Christ if you will not serve Him. If you take Christ, you must take Him in all His qualities. You must not simply take Him as a Friend, but you must also take Him as your Master. If you are to become His disciple, you must also become His servant. God-forbid that anyone fights against that truth. It is certainly one of our greatest delights on earth to serve our Lord, and this is to be our joyful vocation even in heaven itself: His servants shall serve Him: and they shall see His face (Revelation 22:3-4).

Story
Soldiers of Christ must, like soldiers of our nation, wear their uniforms; and if they are ashamed of their uniforms, they ought to be drummed out of the army. I believe that many Christians get into a lot of trouble by not being honest in their convictions. For instance, if a person goes into a workshop, or a soldier into a barracks, and if he does not fly his flag from the beginning, it will be very difficult for him to run it up afterward.

Story
Men who were led by the hand or groped their way along the wall to reach Jesus were touched by his finger and went home without a guide, rejoicing that Jesus Christ had opened their eyes. Jesus is still able to perform such miracles. And, with the power of the Holy Spirit, his word will be expounded, and we’ll watch for the signs to follow, expecting to see them at once. Why shouldn’t those who read this be blessed with the light of heaven? This is my heart's inmost desire.

This audiobook examines three things that are of utmost importance in this fight of faith. The first is our armory, which is the inspired Word of God. The second is our army, the church of the living God, which we must lead under our Lord’s command. The third is our strength, by which we wear the armor and use the sword. The message in this audiobook, when originally presented by Charles Spurgeon in his final address to his own Pastor's College, was received rapturously and enthusiastically.

Story
The Death of Death in the Death of Christ is a polemical work designed to show, among other things, that the doctrine of universal redemption is unscriptural and destructive to the Gospel. Those who see no need for doctrinal exactness and have no time for theological debates that show divisions between evangelicals may well regret its reappearance. Some may find the very sound of Owen's thesis so shocking that they will refuse to consider his book at all.

However, the strength of Spurgeon's ministry went far beyond simple rhetorical skill. With a foundational commitment to the Bible, Spurgeon fearlessly taught the doctrines of grace and tirelessly held forth the free offer of salvation in Jesus Christ. In short he was a firm believer in the truth of the gospel and the power of the gospel to save.

Story
With nearly 200,000 copies sold in its 25 years, Chosen by God by Dr. R. C. Sproul is a contemporary classic on predestination, a doctrine that isn't just for Calvinists, says Sproul. It is a doctrine for all biblical Christians. In this updated and expanded edition of Chosen by God, Sproul shows that the doctrine of predestination doesn't create a whimsical or spiteful picture of God but paints a portrait of a loving God who provides redemption for radically corrupt humans.

Publisher's Summary
A must-listen for anyone who loves God and their neighbor.
As an individual, you may ask, how can I, an average person, do anything to reach the lost? Or if a pastor, you may be discouraged and feel ineffective with your congregation, much less the world. Or perhaps you don't yet have a heart for the lost. Whatever your excuse, it's time to change. Overcome yourself and learn to make a difference in your church and the world around you. It's time to become an effective soul winner for Christ.
As Christians, our main business is to win souls. But, in Spurgeon's own words, "like shoeing-smiths, we need to know a great many things. Just as the smith must know about horses and how to make shoes for them, so we must know about souls and how to win them for Christ." Learn about souls, and how to win them, from one of the most acclaimed soul winners of all time.
In this book, Charles Spurgeon discusses:
- The role of conviction
- The need for holiness in the soul winner
- Why simplicity is more effective
- How to be interesting
- How to pray for the lost
- How to deal with failure
- The role of discipleship
- How to engage others to help
Now in modern English, with additional supporting scripture added in key areas.

I couldn’t listen to this book because of the staccato type narration of the reader. I listen to audio books almost every day and this was the most unpleasant reader I have encountered.

Useful Content, Somewhat Archaic
No one can doubt that Spurgeon was an amazing teacher of ministers, and this book reflects his heart for such.
As far as usefulness, this book is and will always be a great heart check and much of the situational & speaking advice is still relevant even in the era of smartphones.
The text uses words which are out of common use and often filled with jargon, which the narration makes sound even more archaic. This makes it a little difficult to connect with at times, but it's not make-or-break - the book is still worth it for any Christian whose mind is on ministry.
