About this listen

Seven years after the events in The Thirteenth Hour of the Sinuatollion Saga, Kir-rowen, “Kiro,” the immortal daughter of Solange and Clarion, dreams of her grandmother Mendina. Kiro remembers being immortal doesn’t mean she is invulnerable, too. On the contrary, she struggles with a hero inferiority complex, as her parents had saved their people twice. Now, Kiro no longer has the Alicorn Sword to borrow and do good.

While life moves along for the unicorns and chevalome, Kiro keeps busy writing reports of the meetings from the Chevalome Council of Eight and the Unicorn Council of Seven for her parents to read when they return from visiting the Northern Kingdom with her brothers.

Her days of tedium are interrupted when Star-Dream, one of the Unicorn Council of Seven, doesn’t show up to the council one day. Her mate and young foal are worried, and they ask Kiro for her help in finding Star-Dream.

Astalton, a unicorn Kiro has known since she was fifteen, asks to join her in her search. He is a scout, and no unicorn will stay missing while he knows about it.

Baylor and his chevalome horse partner, Aquamarine, also join her. They have been friends since their school days, and he and his mare have just returned home after seven years away.

Kiro will strap on the oddest of her father’s three swords, trying to solve the mystery of the missing unicorn. Amidst the troubling truths that are revealed, she may find the place she really belongs and define the word hero for herself and all chevalomes and unicorns.
