About this listen

The no.1 bestselling thriller featuring Will Trent and Sara Linton, from one of the world's best loved crime writers

'Simply one of the best thriller writers working today' Gillian Flynn

He watches.

A woman runs alone in the woods. She convinces herself she has no reason to be afraid, but she's wrong. A predator is stalking the women of Grant County. He lingers in the shadows, until the time is just right to snatch his victim.

He waits.

A decade later, the case has been closed. The killer is behind bars. But then another young woman is brutally attacked and left for dead, and the MO is identical.

He takes.

Although the original trail has gone cold -- memories have faded, witnesses have disappeared -- agent Will Trent and forensic pathologist Sara Linton must re-open the cold case. But the clock is ticking, and the killer is determined to find his perfect silent wife ...

I really like this authors work, have read her stuff throughout the years.

Recently felt disappointed... almost like perhaps success was making her lazy. But this book is awesome and lve still a chapter or so to go. It feels like the old stuff (which rightly brought her fame) but its not, its new. So happy that she is back to mixing great story, awesome characters with that touch strange detail inserted in the oddest of areas that binds it all together.

I would have given 5 's across the board but the narrator is just fine 85% of the time its that other 25% - yikes.

Also the word scrunshie? It Is used must be more than 25 times and l dont know what that is. I can guess but l refuse to google.

Anyhow l would not read this one on its own, if you have never read her stuff start at the start because she is worth it.

She's back

It wasn't intricate enough to be so long. It got boring. It would have been okay if it was half the length.

Way longer than it needed to be.

Book is great. Narrator is awful - I was close to not wanting to listen because all the accents were so hideous

Terrible narrator good book

I enjoyed this story. I love the reader! I got a little confused with the amount of characters and having the story switch back and forth but I worked it out. I look forward to the next story

This is a long way from Karen Slaughter’s best. I may feel differently if I had read it but the narration grated. When it was plain narration it was fine, when it was speech, it was poor. When it was male speech it made the character sound uneducated and inarticulate.

Not her best
