"Simply one of the best thriller writers working today." (Gillian Flynn)

He watches.

A woman runs alone in the woods. She convinces herself she has no reason to be afraid, but she's wrong. A predator is stalking the women of Grant County. He lingers in the shadows, until the time is just right to snatch his victim.

He waits.

A decade later, the case has been closed. The killer is behind bars. But then another young woman is brutally attacked and left for dead, and the MO is identical.

He takes.

Although the original trail has gone cold - memories have faded, witnesses have disappeared - agent Will Trent and forensic pathologist Sara Linton must re-open the cold case. But the clock is ticking, and the killer is determined to find his perfect silent wife....

Great story WORST NARRATION!

I love Karin Slaughters books, and I like this one....when I read it. The narration of this book was awful. Each character sounds like a different type of parrot. There was one voice change that was so bad I couldn’t even tell what the narrator was saying. Will never get another book narrated by Laurence Bouvard....ever.

Returned. Awful narrator

So disappointing as I have loved her books in the past. However the opening chapter was simply awful with the narrator so off putting. I gave this a good 3 chapters but had to return it.

The Silent Wife. .. A poor book

I wish to return this book I feel it’s well below the standard I expected. Please credit this purchase or simply withdraw it from my library.. Obviously misjudged this badly one of the lowest I have read of recent times.

Ho hum

I had been waiting with great expectations for the next Sara Ljnton/Will Trent novel by Karin Slaughter and unfortunately it was not worth the wait. It is a hackneyed, cliched overblown novel with the main characters more resembling caricatures. It seemed as if the author was just trying a bit too hard. There was way too much bad language, to the point of seeming contrived. The storyline was predictable and there were no stunning twists or turns. And the narrator was truly atrocious with her over the top accent and dreadful character voices. Overall a definite waste of 17 hours of my life.

Terrible Narration

How did this even get through to publication? The narration is so bad that I’m not sure I can continue the story. The various characters have so grating, squeaking and over the top voices that it is hard to listen to.

Another great story, (some) dreadful narration

Another great but devastating book by Karin Slaughter. gripping to the end. The narrator did a great job for the most part, but my goodness she butchered the voices of pretty much any one that wasn't Sarah, Will or Jeffrey. The screechy caterwaul voices that she gave the characters were awful. It was almost enough to make me turn it off. The story prevented me from doing so.

A little too detailed at points

I like Karen’s books normally. This was a decent story but it probably needs a serious warning or trigger alert considering it has some pretty detailed horrific rape descriptions. There were times I was grinding my teeth listening to this in the car. The narrator had a whiny voice with the accents. I persisted but I can see why others couldn’t stand her voice.
