About this listen

They only come when it snows, and nobody ever gets away.

A group of close friends gathers at a secluded cabin in the wintry mountains of Colorado for a final holiday hurrah. Instead, it may be their last stand. First a massive blizzard leaves them marooned. Then the more chilling realization: Something is lurking in the woods, watching them, waiting....

Now a weekend of family, friends, and fun has turned into a test of love and loyalty in the face of inhuman horrors. The only hope for those huddled inside is to fight - tooth and nail, bullet and blade - for their lives. Otherwise, they’ll end up like the monsters’ other victims: bright pools of blood on glittering snow, screams lost in the vast mountains.

This was a good story. Straight forward, no major surprises. I actually really enjoyed it

Solid story

3hrs+ in I knew for sure that I didn't like any of the characters enough to care if they made it or not.
That just leaves the hope of kills one can cheer for, and as all the one's up to my quitting were the "off screen" kind, I decided to listen to something, anything, else.
Less trendy, yuppy, love triangle and more horror would have made it more interesting.

Self admitted trendy yuppies.

This was a big miss for me. The story and creatures weren't too bad and had a lot of potential but it was dragged down with cringey needless ongoing descriptions of goths vs yuppies and not one character was slightly believable outside of cliched romance/YA fiction. I'm sure the characters were written to be unlikable but these characters were just beyond the pale caricatures, The audiobook was pretty unintentionally funny with the male narrator giving the women these hilarious high pitch breathy voices and the tough guys a wild drawl. The monsters were an interesting creation though not enough to save the book alone.
