Story
It’s a freezing winter’s night in 1954. A baby boy, a few hours old, is left by his mother, wrapped in nothing but two sheets of newspaper and hidden amongst the undergrowth by a canal bank. An hour later, a late-shift postman is walking wearily home when he hears a faint cry. He finds the newspaper parcel and discovers the newborn, white-cold and whimpering, inside. After being rushed to hospital and against all odds, the baby survives. He’s baptised by the hospital chaplain as Richard.

Publisher's Summary
Welcome to the life of Dr Max Skittle. Therapist, relationship counsellor, social worker, friend, parent-figure - and, yes: doctor.
Join Max - and his patients - as he takes us on a rollercoaster journey through a year in the life of a doctor: from infected toenails, to wonky elbows, to erectile disfunction, to bed bugs; the happy couple expecting a surprise new baby; the teenage girl struggling with body image issues; the loving family grappling with grief, Max shows us all the highs and crushing lows that come with being a GP - and how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed all our lives forever.
This is what really goes on in your local doctor's surgery - spilt urine bottles, existential crises, emails back and forth with social services, utterly unexplainable health problems and appointments always running late - told by a man who, despite it all, really loves his job.

Heartwarming and funny stories
This was a great listen! The stories were heart-warming but funny anecdotes of a GP's personal and professional life. The only negative was the concluding chapter which was an inane commentary on life that was an anticlimax to the whole book. Get the book but ignore the final chapter is my advice!

I wasn't sure how this was going to play out, but I managed to wrap it up in a week of driving to and from work, making the odd detour just so I could hear more of the story. I was actually sad when It finished as Max has a very funny way of telling a story. A great listen.

If its too hot in the kitchen etc, get out. Boring. You’re not SO interesting that I have to listen to your bad language and complaining.
Have a listen to Dr. Benaroch for great stories. 3 years as Gp does not give you anywhere near the ability to write a book. Awful.
