Story
Jessie's new life adjustment is well underway. The tough alpha Austin has joined her team, and she has painstakingly learned to fly. Life is going a-okay. That is, until her parents decide to visit.... They don't know anything about magic, about Jessie's new digs, or about the crazy crew living in and around Jessie's house. She must do everything in her power to keep the truth away from them. Which would be much easier without the unfelt presence lurking within Ivy House's borders. It seems an enemy has figured out a way to magically bypass Ivy House's defenses.

When her brother goes missing, Ruth Hallbrook follows the only lead that she has - a "magical" shell that will supposedly guide her, all she has to do is repeat the words she hears when she puts it to her ear. It was an ordinary job. Another night, another asshole collector of the supernatural. I free some poor little beasties from their cages, pocket a few trinkets to pay my bills, and burn the place down on my way out. Just call me the Robin Hood of monster emancipation. I didn’t count on three manly monsters following me home like lost puppies. Stunningly hot lost puppies, but still. Now I’ve got a seductively cheeky incubus, a sweetly enthusiastic demon, and a grimly stoic angel camped out in my kitchen.

Lovely to listen to this series.
Very enjoyable to be able to listen to this wonderful tale whilst doing other things. Narrator did well with all the different characters voices. Cannot say everyone sounded like I imagined but hey, I can overlook that detail. BOOK REVIEW We are getting Ms Smiths trademark humour and entertaining characters in this fun fantasy story. Another fantastic and interesting read from Ms Smith. This review is for the extended version which I loved. This is book two in the wonderful and mythical Seven Kingdoms series. I was one of the lucky few who was able to read the original short version of this story and the ones that followed. Ms Smith has once again proven how clever she is by taking a short fun read for her fans that just scratched the surface of a story and turning it into this great read. This story goes so much deeper than the fun version and gives us so much more about everything and everyone. I feel like I am getting to know these people and their emotions. The blurb covers the gist of the story. Jenny is Carly’s best friend and she has never given up believing Carly is still alive. When she follows a young boy into the sea thinking he is in trouble, she is taken to a whole new world full of fairy-tale like characters. Finding herself getting married to Orion, the boys’ father to save the young boy from the sea witch’s clutches, starts a magical adventure for Jenny. Really am loving Asher the pirate and I feel sorry for Magna the sea witch, which I never did previously. We get more of Magna’s internal struggle against the evil controlling her and how she is fighting it. I am starting to think of her as an unsung heroine. More depth with Orion and Jenny’s relationship, Jenny may have married in haste but they are getting to know each other and become a family. The way the eye of the serpent gets returned to the trident was so engrossing. I also want an island with a tree house like the one in this book. Great that we get so much more in this story. Even get some more time with Carly and Drago and their family which is nice.

Adult Fairytale Romance
Jenny Ackerly desperately misses her best friend Carly, and keeps searching for her in the state park where she disappeared. When she jumps in the ocean to save a young boy, Jenny goes through a portal to another world. She agrees to marry the Sea King Orion to save his son & kingdom from Magna, The Sea Witch. Together, they foil the Sea Witch’s marriage plans, her subsequent attack, and Jenny’s resuscitation and conversion. Best if read after The Dragon’s Treasure. Brenin, as always, does a commendable job of narration.

Jenny with the red hair.
enjoyed this story very much. I loved Orion and Jenny. In The Dragon's Treasure we only get glances of Orion and Jenny. I enjoyed the face that we got to explore more of who they are and what they mean to the other players in the Seven Kingdom. I loved Juno and Dolph and I love when an author actually incorporates children in the story when they are a big life of a parents life. There are times where a child is just mentioned but never has page time. I think that is wrong because as a single parent your kid is supposed to be very important to you and when you are dating your kid is involved no matter what. Jenny was totally a G and so was Orion. They did everything and anything to protect their kingdom. I am happy that Jenny and Carla got to see one another. I was really hoping that they got back together because they were so close but so far the every time of the book. I was screaming to just leave the damn sea to explore the other kingdoms Jenny in order to find your bestie! Now lets get to Magda. I knew that there was not something right going on with her. I really want her to be saved. I know that there are a lot of things that she has to atone for however I love a good redemption story. I cannot wait to find out how in the world did all that happen to her. What is really going on?

Deep Abiding Friendship Leads To A Forever Love
Jenny’s dearest friend disappeared several years ago and still she searches for her. Her friend Carrie is the heroine in the first book of this series. The seven kingdoms are on another plane, but can be reached with the right type of portal. Dragons, pirates, magicians, monsters...mermen/mermaids. Carrie had las ways been fascinated with dragons and Jenny with water and being able to swim and breath under water. Jenny fears for a young boy running into the ocean on a day she has about given up on finding Carrie..she follows to save him, but he saves her and brings her to his kingdom where his father rules the ocean and he and his brother must find a mother and queen for their father. There is action, mystery, suspense and a couple of the sweetest little boys who just own your heart! Instant love, soulmates...some tears, lots of steam and sweetness..plus an ongoing danger with more stories to come! Can’t wait. David Brenin is a perfect narrator for SESmith books, at least the ones I’ve listened to..changes in voices, emotion and keeps the action exciting. Can’t wait for more...every book that comes along will drawn me in..love these are on Audible Escape so I can enjoy all her books without going broke! 🥰

Hmmm king of the Mermen!
Searching for her friend Carly who disappeared over 2 years ago, Jenny Ackerly chases down a boy who ran into the sea and discovers a underwater world. As her friend Carly was always into dragons, Jenny is all about her imaginary merman. Pulled from the water Jenny is more than immediately attracted to the Sea King and his 2 sons. She finds out that the boys are looking for a mom and the Sea King must choose a new bride within 2 days after he was widowed nearly 5 years ago. Then the ultimatum marry me or I lose my son. Her fiery red hair and elementary school teacher capabilities coupled with a great sense of humor wins the “mer folk” over and she takes one for the team helping her man fight of the evil cousin witch and her monsters. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

This is not a well developed story
I get that this is just a fluffy type of romance story where nobody is too interested in a well developed story line, but it was so ridiculously abrupt in parts that it felt jarring. The way Jenny agrees to marry Orion is just weird- she lands in completely new world (blind acceptance), is told she will be mum to two children (blind acceptance) and then is told by a man she has met for approximately 10 minutes that she has to say yes when he asked her a question (blind acceptance). Not only does he kiss her before he really talks to her, he then marries her a few minutes later, supposedly to save the kid, but there is complete acceptance from both that as strangers, she will of course have sex with him, not sure why there wasn’t some sort of dialogue around understanding that this was rushed/forced onto her, maybe even some mention that this could be a marriage in name only or even that in return for helping them they would help her return to her own world (even just so she could decide to stay), the whole thing just felt rushed and underdeveloped.
