About this listen

A father's final warning. When a catastrophic attack on the nation plunges the world into chaos, civilization collapses overnight. Amidst the anarchy, New York thrift store owner Erika Blake stumbles upon a leather-bound survival guide—The Safety Plan. Written by a father to his estranged son, Michael Shepherd, it outlines a path to safety, but at a cost. To escape the disaster, Erika must choose: follow the journal’s coordinates to a remote estate in Maine or track down its intended recipient—the only man who may hold the key to her survival.

Meanwhile, in the rugged wilderness of Mount Desert Island, Maine, Michael's family fights to protect their estate. With no power, no communication, and basic services crumbling, lawlessness spreads across the region. As violence escalates and neighbors turn against each other, the island's fragile balance teeters on the edge of collapse.

In a fractured nation where alliances mean survival and trust comes at a deadly cost, one journal may bridge the distance between strangers—or lead them all to ruin.

From International Bestselling Author Jack Hunt comes The Safety Plan—a gripping post-apocalyptic EMP survival thriller, where a father’s final message becomes the difference between life and death in a collapsing world.

The narrator really irritated me from the start with his monotonous pitch. I was hoping that the storyline would improve, but as I listened to this book, I could not find anything redeemable about the characters or plot. The characters were shallow, and I did not connect with any of them. The multiple gangs were unrealistic, and this genre usually encourages hope that some of the "good guys" would succeed. I should have tried out a sample before buying it. A shame because I listen to this type of book all the time.
