One evening in early August, while mashing potatoes for dinner, Connie McColl decides she’s had enough. Sixty-six-year-old wife and grandmother, Connie, is tired of solving one family crisis after another, while her husband Roger spends all day at his beloved golf course. On her journey from England to Scotland, Connie stops in on long-lost friends and makes all sorts of interesting new companions along the way. As Connie has the time of her life, sleeping under the stars and skinny dipping in the sea, she finally begins to rediscover herself. And she starts to wonder, will she ever be ready to return home? Or could this summer change her life forever?
Connie’s begins to discover that it’s never too late to have some fun and you’re never too old for an adventure.

Fully deserves a "You Go Girl"
Started this thinking it would be a bit silly and more of a romp than a compelling story. Boy, was I wrong. I was hooked on Connie McCall from the Get-Go and when she takes a Runner from her dull life in Sussex and heads North I was in the passenger seat with her in both Kermit and Rosie. The fascinating people she meets on the road, some that she reconnects with after many years and every single one of her decisions to "Go Home" answered by, "Well, maybe not today. Maybe tomorrow" had me cheering for her. I am a couple of years older than her and have lived a very different life, but the road to self-realization is never easy. Glad I went with her.

Just an okay story, but great narration.
Disappointed that this story has so much blatant sin in order for the wife to "find herself". Definitely not a Christian story by any stretch of the imagination. I was able to get through it, but I won't listen to any more by this author.

Not Exactly 'Hilarious' ...
... but enjoyable. The premise was promising, and I expected more ... but the product is rather two-dimensional and superficial. Still, take it for what it's worth - a light novel with a variety of characters linked together by one woman's road trip. The narrator is excellent, and her varied accents understated and believable. Worth a credit.

Not my favorite
A predictable and cutesy-perfect book. No character growth, no challenges = no story. Storyline was presented in picture perfect scene after scene, and all with no heartache, no struggle, no family issues. It all just went along too smoothly for me. Ending was far-fetched and overly convenient to assuage the wife's guilt. Spoiler alert - an older woman eventually has an affair, leaves husband. Period.

Great Read-Follow your heart
I am a member of a Bookclub in Chicago IL. The books we had read in previous months had been so heavy, that for my choice I wanted something easy, light and funny. I truly don’t remember how I came across this one, but I am glad I did. It was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story is soooo relevant to life today, probably past also. For me, I feel it shows that if you follow your heart and that still small voice, things will work out. Not only for you, but those who are in your life also. Our meeting is today and when I get a chance I’ll share their reviews of this book with you also.
Great read. Thanks!

This has been a wonderful way to fill my time on my long train journey. The characters were great and their story took me on a journey of laughter, sadness and a realisation that life really is for living whatever our age. An audiobook is a fabulous way to experience the story. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a smile, laugh and occasional tears.

Just ok
I can see that I’m in the minority here but sadly I found this story just didn’t hit the spot for me personally. I like an occasional easy read and this one was nice enough, but I found myself zoning out quite frequently. I felt that too many of the secondary characters weren’t fully developed (although I loved Kath) which stopped me from fully engaging and caring about them. The general narration wasn’t bad at all, but some of the accents were awful (they seem to get worse the further north Connie travels!) I do wish that otherwise good narrators, who just can’t do accents, wouldn’t be hired to take on this sort of work where so many are required - I find it so distracting! I’d say that if you want a “brain off” book or a palette cleanser after a few too many gritty listens, then this would be worth a go - it’s inoffensive.
