About this listen
The instant Sunday Times best seller from the author of The Flatshare
Addie and her sister are about to embark on an epic road trip to a friend's wedding in rural Scotland. The playlist is all planned and the snacks are packed.
But, not long after setting off, a car slams into the back of theirs. The driver is none other than Addie's ex, Dylan, who she's avoided since their traumatic break-up two years earlier.
Dylan and his best mate are heading to the wedding too and they've totalled their car so Addie has no choice but to offer them a ride. The car is soon jam-packed full of luggage and secrets, and with four-hundred miles ahead of them, Dylan and Addie can't avoid confronting the very messy history of their relationship....
Will they make it to the wedding on time? And, more importantly, is this really the end of the road for Addie and Dylan?

Sorry Beth!
I so enjoyed your last two books but could not seem to engage with any of these characters. They all seemed self obsessed and out of touch with reality. Still I look forward to the next.

Easy listening
The voice actors were exceptionally easy to listen to, the story had good twists and turns yet you were thankful with the way it was wrapped up

A light read
I loved Beth O'Leary's 'The flatshare' and 'The switch' but didn't enjoy this one as much. I persisted because of how good her other books are and the narrators did a great job. Will certainly continue to be on the look out for her future novels though! I think this one felt a bit 'fake romance' to me.

Disappointing
The character of Marcus really ruined the whole story for me, I couldn’t finish it. There wasn’t enough of the story focused on the main two characters to get me to push through to see the ending. Really disappointing as I loved the no show…this book just fell flat. Found all the characters lacking likability.

It was good but…
A little cheesy, I normally love her books, but the last hour was a bit too saccharine for me. But definitely some funny parts.

Not as good as the flat share
Amusing but oh so young and silly. Dylan and Addie have many issues. They’re in love but they lack in communication being only 22. They make mistakes and some people on their lives are not very helpful and Dylan’s supposed best friend is actively antagonistic. Their relationship fails.
The book begins when they run into each other, literally, 2 years later. Dylan don’t break in time and runs his car into the car Addie is driving. They are both going to the same wedding and she over Dylan and Marcus a lift.
The book flits between the past and the road trip. Will Dylan and Addie Coopes meeting in the same car together as we learn how their relationship developed and then failed.
And who is Rodney?

Fabulous
Slightly terrified it wouldn't be as good as The Flatshare (the first Beth O'Leary novel I encountered) but was very pleasantly surprised. Loved every bit of this book. The narration/performance was wonderful too.
