Publisher's Summary

A lethal secret society. A priceless stolen treasure. A map worth killing for.

Relic smuggler and expert thief Guy Bodie is a tough man in a dangerous world, loyal only to his elite team of five. But when one of them betrays him, landing Guy in a hellish Mexican prison, he finds himself making a bargain with the most unlikely new ally: the CIA.

There is a catch. In return for being released from jail, Guy must work for the CIA, helping them solve the most audacious heist in history. As Guy knows, six of the Seven Wonders of the World have long been lost. But with the help of the CIA, he learns that the destroyed Statue of Zeus still exists - and it’s in the hands of a powerful secret society.

A prize worth killing for is also worth dying for, and this one has left a trail of bloodshed that goes back centuries. Can Guy and his new team - a group of renegades chosen for their unique skills - hunt down the legendary relic once and for all...before they are added to its list of victims?

Very bad Dan Brown knockoff

There were so many of aspects of this story that were horrible. From the main premise of chasing after laptops to destroy emails to the cheesy dialogue and less than great narrator... Just read a different book..

clichés, timings all wrong

Badly written. Unbelievable, shallow characters, riculous dialogs, illogical plot. I forced myself to finish it, wish I hadn't. Reader was ok.

Imagine action scenes narrated by a robot...

I really wanted to like this story, however, I think the author moved along too quickly without developing the characters or the conspiracy, and focused more on the play-by-play blows within each fight scene instead of the overall adventure. I felt like I was listening to a narration of a series of fights strung together by some lame banter between the thieves. I think what made the overall experience that much worse for me was the narrator. These action scenes were read with the same enthusiasm as if he were reading pages from a dictionary. ...Bueller?...Bueller? I found myself drifting at times.

I never leave audiobook reviews - in fact, this is my first... I just felt compelled to leave one for the hours I made myself sit through this narration with the hopes it would get better.

Humph

I noticed I had bought this book a while ago, but couldn’t remember why I never finished it. Going back through it I remember why. What a bland story. The constant thing of these people picking on each other distracts from the plot that is rather weak to begin with. To make it worse is the near monotone reading of the story had me realizing that at times I had mentally wondered off.

Excellent

Contrary to other reviews, I loved the characters and the story plot. The beginning was a gotcha hooked. It was not a Clancy wannabe, it stood by itself. Better characters, significantly more action. Loved it.

If only we could retrieve our historical monuments

Enjoyed the concept of finding and saving ancient hidden artwork. The relic hunters showed heroism but human frailty. If only we could find these ancient pieces and protect them for posterity.

Repetitive, Simplistic

Basic story plot is good, but it appears to be a compilation of very short segments squashed together and not edited. The number of times you hear about the characteristics of each actor is very frustrating. The action scenes are cookie-cutter and unrealistic. In this "sequential" round-the-clock story of several days no one sleeps. yet continue to perform - and think - with no I'll effects. The inside-bickering and snide comments between team members are tiresome, juvenile, and agonizingly repetitive. I will not continue this series, if it is one. Once is enough. JBK

This book has nothing to do with relics. It is clearly written by a frustrated boxer/ fighter. It's ALL fight scenes. Horrible

Poor choice of narrator

This is a book by an English author, the least the narrator could have done was to learn the correct pronunciation of words and places, especially as two of the settings were in England itself. I am a big fan of this author and have read all of his books. I am also a big fan of audible but their choices, when it comes to appropriate narrators, are often very poor. I will not purchase the audible version of The Atlantis Cipher and am seriously considering sending this one back.

Great story, mediocre narrator

I enjoyed the story and the characters but it was simply too distracting when the narrative referred to a number of characters as being British but the narrator had a strong American accent when playing them. Another distracting annoyance was the mispronunciation of very easy and simple place names.

Macho banter, not funny, and implausible story

The narrator needs to work on his pronunciation of certain words as they were giggle-worthy. The story had me asking “why?!” Many times. Much of it was an excuse for violence rather than presenting a plausible solution. If you want a good treasure hunt story read Dan Brown. Won’t be reading/listening-to any more of his books.

davinci code for teens

weak characters, feels like a made for TV movie starring Nicholas Cage. Lacks the quality of a Dan Brown story.
