Has a lovely way with words. I thoroughly enjoy the story and the characters it was awesome. I felt the narration should be re-done. It was a bit of putting so I sped it up. It was missing a lot of feeling but then again the storyline excellent

Wow. Immensely enjoyable. A truly captivating story with well-matched narration. Will be chomping at the bit to binge through the rest of the series if the creative writing and plot development are anything like this. Bravo!

I found the story quite gripping. Like the next in this series, which I read before this one, it was hard to put down, and contained lots of interesting historical aspects. It was great to discover this author. The narration in this (and the next book) would have been fine, if the narrator had not adopted the style taught to newsreaders: pausing between phrases, emphasising one word in each phrase, and worst of all, interfering with the flow of the story by pronouncing the word ‘a’ as ‘Ay’ almost every time it appeared in the text. Substituting ‘proprietary’ for ‘propriety’, and using Fall instead of Autumn, were simple errors that should have been picked up by the editor, but were not.

I love most of May mcgoldricks books but found so many sad situations in this book. It didn’t make for light fun reading. Yes it’s probably true to Life. But a bit too realistic when I’m
Trying to escape everyday drudgery. Well written and narrated but again just too many cruel people in it for me to enjoy
