Story
Cal Newport's clearly written manifesto flies in the face of conventional wisdom by suggesting that it should be a person's talent and skill - and not necessarily their passion - that determines their career path. Newport, who graduated from Dartmouth College (Phi Beta Kappa) and earned a PhD from MIT, contends that trying to find what drives us, instead of focusing on areas in which we naturally excel, is ultimately harmful and frustrating to job seekers.

Story
Our attention has never been as overwhelmed or in demand as it is today; we've never been so busy while accomplishing so little, and we've grown uncomfortable with boredom and a lack of stimulation and distraction. In Hyperfocus, Chris Bailey - described by TED.com as 'the most productive man you could ever hope to meet' - provides profound insights into how we can best manage our attention. He reveals how the brain switches between two mental modes - hyperfocus, our deep concentration mode, and scatterfocus, our creative, reflective mode - and how the surest path to being our most creative and efficient selves at work is to combine them both.

Fantastic, well structured
I absolutely loved this book. As a chronic procrastinator myself I found it very insightful. it is researched well and split into useful sections: reasons we procrastinate and then tactics to overcome procrastination. I also liked the fact that the chapters were smaller and easier to take on the concepts from each. I would highly recommend this book and will be searching for other books from this author.

Don’t buy
Not worth it.
Read a lot of self-help books, this is nothing but common sense and basic knowledge, impossibly boring to listen too.
Read or listen to “Rewire” by Richard O’Connor instead, that book I’m listening for 5th time over now.

No value in this book or take away whatsoever
This book provides nothing else that a 15 minute article or a 10 minute YouTube video wouldn’t.
First, it lack content so much that it’s filled with tons menial examples, experiences and references to certain situations.
Second, any person who fells the need to fix procrastination knows for sure all the “tactics” the author pretends to slips as his.
Third, the core ideas would literally take 10 minutes to be explain in a clear and sufficient manner. Yet this book takes more than 3 hours at normal speed.
The writing is so plain and dull that is as boring to read as the phone guide.
After listening completely with the hope of some decent or applicable advice I’m so pissed that I regret the very first moment I downloaded it.
